Afternoon Guys, STEAM slower at night than in the day is strange. Please also confirm that you are using the MWEB server. Please also monitor the download speeds you are obtaining on STEAM and please provide me some more feedback regarding your experience.

will check again tonight, but so far: had bad speeds with most ranging and jumping from sub 100 to about 250. these are also all late night and ofc going into midnight and early morning.

I have switched between all Mweb servers and would let them run for about an hour or so to see if any improvements.

2 nights ago managed about 350 on Civ 4 and then yesterday did manage about the same but early morning (round 7am).

People probably start downloading games as soon as they buy them. The new specials start at 19:00.

yeah I had contemplated this as well. I thought I would let it slide for now and see how things go upon the end of the specials.

1 thing though was that some people said they didn't have any issue, but then I also put it down as maybe what I was downloading against what they were downloading, was maybe how popular the thing was or maybe that theirs was cached???

Hi LabAnimal,

Please advise if it's only youtube that you are experiencing issues with?

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Well this morning, I'm trying to watch a videoclip on Facebook, and its buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering... and Buffering...

... quite had enough of this!... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150234647354677&comments

Then there's other sites, which Im not naming (yes its pron!) where images takes so long to display like its bloody dialup and not 4meg.

overall I really don't get why we have to complain and you have to investigate the exact fault on a website. This is clearly an overall problem with mweb, and not a specific site. Stop the shaping crap. Sort yourselves out! Isn't this thread long enough with complaints?

Honestly if I could opt out of this account today I would!. It would be appreciated if I can get an immediate cancellation. I'd rather switch to my SAOL account for a few days till I can get a more reliable ISP!.

Good Morning LabAnimal, I tested the video with a 4meg account and line and found that the video does buffer. However it is not to extreme, it buffered about 6 seconds in the first 40 to 50 seconds.

Please also provide me your MWEB account details.

F.Y.I Did some tests right now. if I use the JHB server I get max 150kb/s. Switched to the CPT server and it is maxing at 460kb/s. This is within 5 minutes of each other, so I doubt the network coditions changed. Maybe it's just because of where I am located.

EDIT: Or maybe the JHB server has a higher load? Maybe MWEB Guy can check that....

Have to agree with you. July 31st is long way away.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Please see the inbox message I sent you.

I have authentication turned off, still not working, regarding this... why do you redirect traffic?

to confirm: yes I also switched to the CPT last night and everything went at close to max. was told by some1 else that it is most likely due to fact that JHB is overloaded especially now with specials and all. CPT apparently don't have many Steam lovers :D

it works without authentication, I am just trying to understand why you would want to do this, what if I move my ipad to a different network that does not do redirect to their own mail server, then I need to change settings.

@MWEB Guy can we do this telephonically as this is really getting annoying to click refresh all the time. you have my number

@MWEB Guy what don't you understand, it works if I do it without authentication. but I want to use my own damn mail server. how difficult is that to understand?
