Received the MWEB Newsletter by email recently -- the one offering a R4000 prize for completing the survey. I read the terms and conditions, which included:

The prize winners will be determined whereby 4 (four) duly completed survey forms will be randomly selected to determine the four prize winners on Monday 22 August 2011.
...
4 (four) winners can win their share of R20 000 (zar) in prize money and will be awarded with R4 000 each.

:wtf:

Four winners each winning R4000 is R20000? The actual survey page says "one of five" winners. It seems petty, but MWEB, you gotta get these kinds of things right, especially in T&C.

My account just got debited for R943 for a 1Meg package and on top of that I have a closing balance of R588. wtf

Oh and btw, your online account statement is just everywhere... not at all user-friendly. For example I've been billed for services starting from 01/09/2011 - 30/09/2011

Hi acidrain, I have your details and I will investigate this matter for you.

Thanks.

From the looks of things ( starting the beginning of this month ), I was billed for a 384 line for next month, then a reverse was made from the beginning of this month to the end of next for said 384. Then double billed for a 1meg. Then a reverse of the above 384 reverse was made. Then a debit order for R364. Then 3 months for 2 avg subscriptions added from 01/06 - 31/08. Then another reverse payment for R11...

Can see why it's so confusing... I don't even understand what i just said but that's what I see on the invoice.

Edit: Just a side note... the double debit of the 1Meg comes to R1198 on the invoice, but as per your site All-Inclusive is R588 * 2 = R1176... discrepancy of R22 ( Of which only R11 was reversed... simple logic leads me to believe thats what the reverse was for )

hey Mweb Guy,
i cancelled my account around the middle of the month. I see today i was charged R219? does that mean I will be successfully cut off at the end of August.
It is not a big issue but I wanted to cancel now ,end of July, due to financial reasons

Ok, after some serious head scratching... Everything does seem correct ( with exception of that R11 discrepancy outstanding ). Just if you can confirm that I have paid for a 1Meg, for this month and next, which is the conclusion I'm sitting at now.

Would have been nice to have been billed correctly from the beginning instead of paying two months at once, but I guess someone was having a nap at the time.

come on now MWEB. My problem is now under investigation for 2 weeks now and its going for the 3rd and I still do not see any improvements. I am constantly getting disconnected from local servers, international servers, my download speed is 150kb/s .... To send me SMS' and tell me its still under investigation does not COUNT as good customer services.... The disconnections only happens during the night from around 6-7pm. I am flaming now because I can do jack SH** during the nights .... can only browse.

Do what I did and dump them. While you're still sane.

As exactly 12 am I couldn't for a few seconds access www.take2.co.za. Then as I started to pathping it magically fixed itself again. odd ?

Who offers uncapped adsl that does not throttle you down to nothing if you actually use uncapped ?

Other ISP's might not throttle one so badly but their base speeds are much worse. I did some ISP hopping last year where most ISPs (Openweb, Afrihost, Imagine) with uncapped service provided such low speeds one could not even stream music consistently. And I don't even download.

I went to Mweb and for a while they were stable speeds but lately the service has been up and down allot. It's as if they have gotten too many subscribers for their capacity. During office hours it's stable but slow. After office hours they start to crawl where you get allot of timing out.

I am in the same boat as you. I am starting to think I should leave Mweb but what other ISP would be able to provide a stable connection?

MWEB Guy please can you help.

I tried signing up to your uncapped service 384kbps for R230 per month.
One of your representatives phoned me saying I will need to re-submit my ID (I sent you my passport because my ID was washed and not usable) and I didn't have proof of residence younger than 5 months.

She told me I will HAVE to submit an ID document (like I signed up with) and a Proof of address younger than 3 months.

I decided to leave the uncapped untill I have my new ID Document and proof of residence sorted out.
I needed to download big files from the net so I went and ordered an uncapped account from Afrihost for this month.

Saturday I received an sms stating I was billed R324 or thereabout from Mweb, I didn't know you guys billed people without actually providing a service?

Please can you get the relevant department to pay back the money as I haven't received any login details nor will I be using your service for this month or next I am already paying for Afrihost's uncapped service.

Your staff should not have phoned me telling me I will not be accepted as customer and then debit money from my account.
I don't see this as being fair to me as customer.

Regards,
Imminent
