Mweb Guy, you said you would investigate the timeouts. Remember? Whats happening to that? Was fine the whole weekend and just got it again now.

I have logged this matter with the network team but have not yet received an update.
I have now followed up with them and await their feedback.

I went to Mweb and for a while they were stable speeds but lately the service has been up and down allot. It's as if they have gotten too many subscribers for their capacity. During office hours it's stable but slow. After office hours they start to crawl where you get allot of timing out.

I am in the same boat as you. I am starting to think I should leave Mweb but what other ISP would be able to provide a stable connection?

So far, mweb is the only ISP that offers uncapped adsl for actually downloading stuff. I have tried Afrihost and they are POOR, if you download too much (more than 10gb per day) you get throttled down to nothing. Every ISP that offers uncapped adsl and uses IS is bad news, stay away from them if you thinking of downloading.

Web Africa does not offer uncapped but they are the best ISP for gaming. They are too expensive for me so I decided to go to mweb. With mweb I can download huge updates for games because I use steam a lot and I have to download games from steam to play them.

I do not want to go to another ISP, I never had any problems with MWEB. It is just this last month the timeouts started and the extremely bad download speeds.

I am not getting what I paid for and thats why I am complaining every day. I am going to call mweb EVERYDAY from tomorrow to find out if they have fixed my problem. I guess nagging in their ears might get a faster response...I know it worked with telkom.

What really makes me upset is that mweb started the competitive prices for uncapped adsl and one would think that they were prepared for the loads of BW demands, now it looks like they were too greedy and sold too many accounts and their infrastructure cannot support the large amounts of BW demands.

With my current download speed, I should pay for a 512 account and not for a 4mb .... lol ;-)

I haven't been able to download OS X Lion with my 4mb uncapped for the last few months. And I was part of the beta programme and couldn't even offer my help because of the poor connection not allowing me to get the entire file.
 
That is unfortunate. I was able to successfully download it on two Mac's on launch night with my mweb 1 meg uncapped :erm:

Do not use Chrome, the download manager is pathetic. Rather get something like flashget or a download manager that you can pause. With the unreliable connections and timeouts with mweb you will go mad if it lose connection...

Chrome is pretty atrocious all over. The lack of customisation and the dumbed down interface just boggles my mind!

On topic: Gaming is still decent, News server downloads have been absolute rubbish (0 to 30kbs on 1mb line) the past week or so, come on MWEB, it's not like I am using international for it so why throttle the hell out of it?
 
Not on MWEB, but experiencing a problem too, just as i was going to send an email to my 1st (ex) girlfriend :/ after 1 year....not meant to happen tonight it seems "sigh"

1st day of August and the internetz breaks :p

I can't view any video on youtube cause it's so slow and my gaming is lagging. Getting a ping of 25 but random spikes all over on Black ops
 
Been watching MLG stream all weekend until now, shortly before the end of the tournament my internet has stopped working. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.
