International down...Afrihost running fine ;-)
Why is it necessary for us to have backup accounts? This is unacceptable...
First day of switching our small office from Web Africa to an MWEB Uncapped 1mb line... Mweb hasn't made a good first impression with my boss![]()
Does this kind of thing happen a lot? An extra backup account seems a bit much..

Almost daily... start at page 1 of this thread and you'll get the picture... if its not throttled to a standstill, then its dead or dying on mweb's bandwidth carriers... sorry for the grim picture, but it is the truth none the less...
I did comparative tests between MWeb and Africahost. Afrihost at least double as fast as MWeb, and this is to their (Mweb's) own speedtest servers!
I ask again, what happened to SAT-3 failover?
Considering the users in this thread make up maybe <5% of MWEB's user base, perhaps you should change providers (if not already).
Or maybe it's because I'm in Cape Town...
As soon as I complain about these daily speed dips, Mweb tells me to do a speed comparison. I spend time doing it, and then I am told my connection has "stabilised" so there is nothing to look into. So now I did the speed tests pre-emptively.Your point?

A bit much? I disagree - businesses need to be redundant. One could say that having a UPS, multiple data/file copies, etc. also seems a bit much...
Buy a GB of prepaid bandwidth for redundancy? FNB Connect is about R25 a gig. I use them because it's easy having a FNB account.
That's a good point I guess, I suppose I haven't had this experience before but it makes sense to have that backup. Although many posts in this thread suggest daily outages for some users, I'm guessing the vast majority of MWEB subscribers don't have that problem.
