Anyone else's usenet turned off? Everything else working fine. only getting about 1-3 kb/s on astraweb account.

Thanks Copacetic, I have logged the call back already. You should be contacted tomorrow.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

After a lot of time on the phone, various accounts, and a router swap, the word from MWEB is that there is a problem, but it's on Telkom's side.

Phone Telkom, report the fault, every time I try Telkom says I must get MWEB to report it for some ****ing reason (line is not with them).

MWEB people were friendly, patient, and did their best to diagnose the issue. Telkom people were rude, uninterested, and this is when I could get through to them without being disconnected by their stupid phone service thing.

So, problem not solved or even diagnosed, but I've been quite satisfied so far with MWEB's involvement.

Is anyone else experiencing AWFUL performance from their MWEB accounts in the last few days??

My 4meg uncapped is absolutely useless, downloads never finish and are always interrupted, pages half load if at all, youtube videos will not cache...

Been happy with this account for 6 months or so but this is terrible.

Good Evening randomguy

Please provide me your MWEB account details and I will look into this for you. Also please provide me pings and tracers to local and international sites.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Something is definitely wrong again. Having the same problems as the previous time when there was issues on the network.

For example downloads from fileserve disconnect and the program Jdownloader cant do updates. Same problem from 8 different PC's and two business adsl accounts and one home user account. Been like this since about Monday/Tuesday.

Yes, really bad. Keep getting random resets. I have an axxess account that works absolutely fine on the same sites so I know it's not hardware, line, modem etc. The MWEB account is sick ... I think it's fatal.

Mweb... have you taken the bf3 beta and prioritized it as gaming traffic on your servers? Playing during the day on mweb 4mb uncapped results in disconnections... doesn't happen in the evenings. If I switch to a wage or afrihost account... no disconnections during the day. Oh... this is using mweb bf3 beta servers.

This is like Bad Company 2 used to be on the mweb network when it first came out.

Hi pmurgs,

Please post all Game related queries on our MyBB Gaming thread or the best place will be our dedicated Games forum via the following link: http://www.mweb.co.za/games/Home.aspx

According to the top guy at MWEB, games are given highest priority on the network. Was he lying?

Hi Lounger,

I can assure you our Game Administrators will not lie. It is true that Gaming gets top priority on our network.

Here is is a link to a public post where our Games manager Desmond Kurz explains.

http://www.itnewsafrica.com/2011/09/mweb-to-provide-dedicated-bf3-servers/

extract: "In fact, all gaming traffic on the MWEB network is given top priority."

I have been with mweb uncapped 4 meg pretty much since launch and i must say the service has only improved and in fact it seems to get better every month in terms of shaping/p2p, never have any issues at all. Thanks to all those working behind the scenes to make this possible :)

Hi Fader4,

Thank you for the positive feedback.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Yep, I can only add to what Fader4 said, lately the service has been superior to anything I have had before.
Its beyond my expectations and I am very happy.

Telkom came around, took a look and assured me the problem is not a local one.

With regards to the second hop of my traceroute timing out, this is between MWEB and someone they must deal with in Pretoria, according to the very nice chap from Telkom.

Why does that second step time out? Does it matter?

Why am I having slow downs then?

Who do I turn to next?

Good Afternoon Copacetic

Please advise if your experience has improved since the Telkom tech was at your premises?

I'm getting a 'connection refused' error using SABnzbd, tried restarting pc and router, same thing with the firewall off...

He did not do anything. Aside from test my line, which is just perfect he says.

As for the slowdowns, they are intermittent.

I'll be sure to post when and if they happen again.

*edit*

I still want to know what the story is with that time-out. According to the MWEB tech guy I spoke to, that's definitely a problem.

Now, I have both MWEB and Telkom seemingly at a loss for how to resolve this.

Where do I go from here?

The timeout is on the 2nd hop, therefore it would seem to be closer to the remote end. I would check my cables, micro-filters and things of that nature.
