Ok, it seems the problem is 563 and 443, as 5563 works, very strange.

Hopefully it is something local then

Getting reset connections on 563, but 370-380 KB/s on 443 at the moment. Very strange.

MWEB Guy any ideas as to why some SSL newsserver ports might not be working?

A paid server.

I'm using uncapped & unshaped - around 10pm last night I suddenly got downloads running at 390 kb/s.

Am rather curious as to why some ports were not working .......

Strange, since switching ports I have been getting very good performance on paid servers on shaped uncapped account.

Good morning FBman

Just a quick update on the Seacom situation:

Some more bandwidth was brought online last night bringing us up to 83% of our required capacity. We allowed P2P traffic to run from midnight to 7am after which it had to give way for critical traffic again.

We are working on having the remaining capacity restored during the course of the day after which all traffic priorities will return to normal.

Kind Regards

MWEB Operations

83%? I still cant access most HTTP sites tho...

Thanks for the update and for a strategy that will bring us back to 100%.

Right, so now Mweb says using SSL ports is "bypassing their shaping rules". I only use it during the night, as I NEVER get my full speeds. I was tryong to CONNECT to the server, not DOWNLOAD anything.

The fact that he did not answer regarding the blocking of the ports, is saying to me they are. An honest answer would have been much better, but hey, thats how they roll.

Send it via PM

I asked if they are blocking the SSL ports, and THAT was reply I got. That I'm bypassing the rules...mmkay

Fact is, on another pc, with a different ISP, my username/password work on SLL, ports 563 and 443.

Strange, I have been using SSL on standard newsserver ports for more then a year and haven't had any problems or warnings....

MWEB guy, can you please clarify whether SSL on standard newsservers ports (443 and 563) are viewed as bypassing?

I got my account suspended for it. Seems they are very selective in how they enforce this.

Whatever happened to connections on 563 affected the business accounts as well.

Good Afternoon

Please note that our Aup also makes provision for this and the Security Violations section provides you with some more information:

• using manual or automated means to avoid any use limitations placed on the IP Services;

• providing guidance, information or assistance with respect to causing damage or security breach to MWEB's network or systems, or to the network of any other IP Service provider;

SSL VPN is unshaped and best suited to an Unshaped Account.

(Should this be required for Business purposes, we would urge you to consider changing to an Unshaped Business product.)

Kind regards,
MWEb Guy

Can you define SSL VPN?

On a side note I usually have ports 443 and 563 shaped during office hours with SSL enabled....

Well I had to switch over to my afrihost account. All I can do on my mweb account is surf websites. Steam doesn't want to connect at all

Internet speed is fine again but there are a few sites that won't work and a few programs i can't log into.steam disconnect immediately after i try to login, other programs give the internal client error and then there are some sites that say the connection was reset while the page was loading as soon as i open it.

i have never had this problem before except the one where the connection was reset to the webpage.

International sites - DEAD!

Error message - "Server not found"

:(

EDIT: Now it's back to normal. What the hell? oO

Somethings up with International. My pages are barely loading.
