hi mwebguy, was having a problem earlier with torrent speeds but have changed domains from dslmweb to mweb and speeds are much better now. Torrents and filehosts running at +- 250-300kbs now but were at only about 50kbs on the other domain. Will continue to monitor and will post if i have any problems

Thanks for the feedback Fader, please let me know if your situation changes. Enjoy your day.

Taking a second look at your message your saying that I am connected @mweb.co.za

I was previously connected @dslmweb and changed it to @mweb.co.za yesterday.
Neither of them wanted to work with torrents. After resetting everything and setting it to @mweb torrents still don't want to work.
I'm going to change it to @dslmweb again and see if theres any change and post back.

Testing with @dslmweb and still no luck with torrents. Download from Megaupload at full speed on both @mweb and @dslmweb.

Getting about 5kbs on torrents atm. Managed to download 19mb in an hour.

Please provide me some more feedback in the morning and let me know if this was your experience throughout the rest of today and early tomorrow.

My downloads from fileserve are going at 100kb/s. I have 5 rar files downloading and each is going at about 20kb/s. Many months ago, it used to be 400kb/s. I am on the 4Mb/s line.

My modem reports that it is connected at 5024 kbps and I am using dslmweb.

Please can mweb assist me.

Hi ardnivar

I am not sure if you are aware but fileserve falls within our shaping rules.
Also send me your MWEB details.

Hi

I am aware of the shaping of these accounts. My concern was that over the last 2 months or so, the speed has degraded. I am aware of the seacom issues as well.

Tested from this afternoon with torrents. 1 of my torrents managed to get 10kbs at best. The problem is that torrent is the only one that even remotely works. All my others just stay at 0kbs no matter how many seeds they have.

It seems like Mweb still has the Seacom outage shaping policy in place, 00:00 - 08.00am full speed nntp and p2p 08:00 - 14:00 heavy shaping only get about 20kbs on 1meg line, then thereafter the speed gradually increases till midnight hitting full speed.

Not a rant or complaint as i'm still getting value for money for a shaped account, just observing :)

i did not download last night but im seeing good speed now, hope the severe shaping is gone for good (or least till the cable breaks again)

My torrent problems seem to have been resolved during the night. Will test further and post back after more testing.

Good morning Gents, thank you for the feedback and please do continue to keep me updated on your experience.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

I have no clue why but sometimes when i open firefox to browse, no pages will display, its as if the internet is disconnected...but all the lights will remain on, on the router. Only once ive switched it off and back on it works fine, this has happen a couple times now, any idea why?

Hi Skratch

Is this only happening with firefox or is it happening with other browsers too.

Regards
MWEB Guy

I've seen this happen a couple of time before with my router as well. I have a dlink dir-300 and every now and then the internet just doesn't work for browsing. When I log into the router it says the internet is still connected. Then I have to go to the status page and click DHCP renew. Could be that you have a similar problem to that one.
