Howzit all

When I open the app, it opens then the hour glass appears for a bit to indicate "loading" then a message mention the device is not supported due to it being rooted.

Device is not rooted - has anyone had this issue and have a remedy?

TIA

Yes new error across many devices. I suspect dstv now app doing checks to see if device is android box vs tablet and blocking. I have new android 7 box with level 1 widevine. Not rooted. Supersport works but not dstv now giving root error which is nonsense

Get an app called Hide My Root (or something similar), it masks it.

I have used hide my root. Does it work with latest version of dstv now. On beelink box does not work

Hide my root only actually works if your device is indeed rooted. I tried it and both Showmax and DSTV now don't work as the device isn't actually rooted.

It works on both my MXQ and my MyGica.
Hi claymore. Using normal hide my root from play store. Reason asking. My new device is not rooted. But root error pop s up in dstv now. All of apps using root do not work. They say no root access. Will try thanks

I'll check which exact app I'm using; I got it from the store. I do remember there were two steps I had to run, and it took me a while to figure that out.

That would be great. Thanks

I am busy looking into getting this to work. Will have a Video on my Youtube channel hopefully next week with my feedback and what I plan to do. The info I have so far is as follows:

1) Device I have is rooted. I ran a Google Play Unroot app and now the DSTV Now starts but still does not work.
2) Device does not have a unique ID and tbh, DSTV should have used the MAC instead by chose not to.
3) Fixing device ID to be unique should get it to work.

My plan
1) Root again using some google play app.
2) I found a guide to update the Unique ID.
3) Unroot and try again.

Please go to the link below to get the links to FB, YouTube so you can subscribe and stay up to date. The list of content that is coming is going to be awesome. So many ideas and things to comment on, so little time...

Hi All,

I`ve been struggling to overcome the "device is rooted" error. My device is not rooted so I don`t understand why i`m getting that message. DSTV is worried about streams being hacked etc. but the same can be done on a PC so why deny these boxes. I also saw that Telkom is launching an android tv box but they are advertising that it plays DSTV now. So i`m thinking its a conspiracy between DSTV and Telkom. Because its the same devices. https://techcentral.co.za/telkoms-lit-tvc-100-android-box-revealed/76676/
If any1 has come up with a solution to this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Lee-Roy

If you want to unroot, there are applications within the Play Store that can do it or you can use an application to hide your Root. This generally does not solve the issue though as there are other weird checks done by the DSTV now app.

In my case, I have unrooted my device but now cannot root it again. This is causing issues as I need root access to fix the Device ID issue and then unroot again to see what is needed.

The New Telkom TV Box seems to support it all. I am suspect about the processor as I do not think it is a S905X but is a S905W which is the newer one. Going to order a S905W version soon to test it as it is really cheap and looks good for the price. The issue with most devices is root and compatibility but each brand has to be tested and that does take time. - I was wrong. S905X and S905W has the pentacore GPU while I thought the S905X only had a quad core GPU. Telkom site might be correct. Not often do we see a S905X with Android 7 for cheap.

What I am thinking now though, is that for R1100 for the telkom device, and adding Kodi to it, would solve most issues. But I prefer buying a tv box for R600 and messing with it till I can get it to work. But that is just the kind of person I am. lol.
