Yeah but even so you should still be getting 2Mbps upload, and definitely nothing lower than 1.
On VDSL yes, not on ADSL.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but ADSL2+ is not VDSL.
I am on 20Mbps VDSL and the modulation is G.993.2 as reported by the modem. Before my conversion from 10Mbps ADSL to VDSL, the ADSL modem was reporting my maximum attainable rate as 23Mbps (on ADSL2+) although they would not increase my speed above 10Mbps - I had to go VDSL for that.
Recently moved into a new house in Kyalami and the previous owner's line was still active. They said I can use it untill I can get my own line installed. Plugged in my ADSL2 rooter and got 20 mbps download speeds all the time. When they finally came round to do my own line installation I was told that I can't have 20mbps ADSL and will need VDSL for that. So it's strange that I could get 20mbps with my ADSL router on the previous owner's line.
It's not called asymmetrical digital subscriber line for nothing.
Telkom don't officially support 20Mb ADSL. If you need higher than 10Mb, they swop the modulation over to VDSL. That said, 20Mb on ADSL2+ works fine, I've been syncing at that since last year August with no issues on one of my lines.
