My MTN Adventure

Read it - "the answer is within"

I read the thread, been reading it since you started it....

My question is this:

You wanted an HTC Dream (The reason you went to the MTN store) but wanted to also use it as a modem. Now since for whatever reason they needed to do a "ROM" update and you decided it takes too long.

However, you then decided to take a USB modem instead....

If you selected a USB modem from the start no matter which provider, this thread would have been non-existent, this is the reason I'm asking what the actual point was.

Is it that the HTC dream needed a ROM update?
Is it that MTN service sucks because of the ROM update?
Or just a random thread indicating your journey on getting connected to the internet wirelessly ?

It wasn't random at all, it was a log, of sorts, to document how my experience went with MTN and to serve as "sounding board" for myself as a future MTN user. The requirements that I stated in the initial post where not met, nor was MTN capable of meeting them so I had to abandon the attempt and find an alternative route. Simply reading the posts you would have gathered this information for yourself. The summary is this: I wanted to inform people on this board with how things went with my HTC Dream as a modem and phone, how MTN went as a service provicer, and my general service level experineces with MTN. I thought it a noble venture and useful to the rest of the forum.

This is sad...now we'll never know how htc dream works as a modem :(

So all we can ascertain from this outing now is that the HTC Dream needed an update that you where not prepaired to wait for....

I think that sums up this thread very nicely then ;)

As I Type this I am awaiting an MTN adventure to begin. I just applied for an HTC Dream and a 1 Gig Data Package. The HTC will serve dual purpose and be my phone (duh) and my modem (via usb) to my Windows 64 Bit Ultimate Laptop. So I thought I would start a thread here and document my adventures.
Some Facts on my decision making process:o
1) I have a MTN Pay as you go phone already and want to keep that number.
2)I always wanted an Android based phone and the Dream is exactly it. With a keyboard to boot.
3)My Laptop needs Internet while I wait to move and then get DSL.
4)Neotel has no service where I live (North Coast Natal)
5)I needed a phone that I could email and use the web with ease. Means for me having a keyboard.

With a USB modem, you have only met requirement number 3. Waiting for the upgrade, would have sorted you out on all.

Pitbull is a sexy devil.

Please read the thread totally so you can stop embracing yourself and trolling so diligently.
The people at MTN told me they didn't know when It would be able to be used as a modem. So I am waiting. I don't follow your idiocracy. When HTC "catches up with the times" I hopefully will get the Dream and use it as a modem. Do you attack all the forum posters that are trying to be helpful or do you just have a hard on for me? You can admit it, I am not shy ;)

Not at all mate ;)

No need to jump, shout and scream ;)

As I said, I've been reading this thread from the start. You decided not to take the Dream because it required an update not true?

There is no screaming in my post, nor jumping, only sarcasm. Mostly at your ill fated attempt at trolling. Lets take a look at something:
1) I have a MTN Pay as you go phone already and want to keep that number.
2)I always wanted an Android based phone and the Dream is exactly it. With a keyboard to boot.

I met Criteria 3, dealt with point 4 as it is not really an issue.
I haven't yet purchased a phone so 1,2, and 5 are still viable. If / when the Dream gets a ROM update.
So to summarize, I am waiting, yet in every post you point to some idiotic idea that I didn't wait for the ROM update.
OK prove it: what did I buy to fill the role of Android Based phone with a Keyboard as I mentioned in the original post. Show me, because I can't seem to find the new phone I bought because I couldn't wait. Please elaborate.
Let me help - Maybe I should just not use the Internet on my laptop, not really an option. Hmmm maybe I should just buy the Dream anyway and use it for a paper weight while I hope magically the Internet will stream through it. Yea that's a great idea.

Its ok to be wrong sometimes guy, internet rep really isn't important to adults.

Let me ask this again......

Did you decide not to take the HTC Dream, Based on the ROM update it needed?

Simple Yes/No answer nothing more nothing less.

You said this thread was aimed at the phone so can you answer me that? No need to jump on me like a cheap shirt. I'm asking you questions based on your thread and would like answers based on your experience.

Now pls don't post some weird response again, just answer the question

I have not decided not to take the phone. I have not taken any phone.
I HAVE NOT BOUGHT A PHONE
Should I type it again.
I am WAITING to BUY a PHONE.
Let me see how else I can say it.
PHONE HAS NOT BEEN PURCHASED FROM ANYONE.
ummm
I DIDNT BUY A PHONE.
hmmm
I STILL NEED A PHONE?
Thats all I can come up with buddy.

You seem to not grasp the content of my question....

You have decided not to take the HTC Dream, but took a USB modem instead.
With that in mind, pls would you be so kind as to explain to me and whoever is reading this Why did you decide not to take the HTC Dream?

I'll give you multiple choice options to make it a little easier for you

1. The HTC Dream required a ROM update I was not pre-paired to wait for

2. The Service I received suck

3. I just decided to wait till the HTC Dream is ready for my needs.

4. All of the above

That should make it pretty simple ......

Try this one as well.

No.
I do not know when and what the ROM update will comprise of.

I hope to still get a Dream. Soon as it will work as a modem. As stated in the original criteria the phone I purchase must be usable as a modem and the HTC isn't?

Do you know when / if there is a ROM update that will allow the Dream to be used as a modem? How long do I have to wait?
Please advise Pitbull ASAP.

Like I said before if you had read the thread you would know what you need to know and you wouldn't have wasted so much time.

If you read that and are still in the dark I can't help you bud.
Sorry, try again after some coffee or something, you WILL get it.
I believe in you!

Ok, based on that I made your selection for you.

Much appreciated, that is all I wanted to know.

Enjoy your day

What we have all learned is don't say you have read the thread if you haven't.
Tally Ho!
If anyone does hear of the Dream working as a modem let me know.
Shot.

Nope, not at all. I wanted you to confirm it was the phone and not the service that led to your choice. Which is now confirmed.

Thanx for your input, much appreciated.

If you confirmed you question from a previous post in the thread simple logic dictates you would have done so if you had read the post sooner.
You can disagree all you want - but you will just be wrong.
And its ok to be wrong sometime man, it happens to everyone.

I wish I could thank you for something, but alas nothing springs to mind.

Heh? Either the two of you are masters of circumlocution or im still asleep, either way Happy Monday!:D
I can't be understanding either, glad it's not just me.

So when is the firmware update coming out?
