My voting experience

45 minutes... would have been faster had they not been shoving the old tannies and oompies to the front. Staff were efficient and friendly, although the poor guy with the scanner was turning blue with cold, he had not really come dressed for the job (and its misluk chilly where I live). There were no problems at all in my area.
X has marked the spot.

Rigggghhhhhttttt..... Standing in a queue posting on the internet every step I take to the voting station....

And they call us Linux users geeks and freaks!

Just got back from voting in Paulshof. Arrived 11h10, finished at 13h00  The queue is massive, but it's worth it. Good to see so many people toughing it out.

Edit: To anyone else still to vote in Paulshof, bring refreshments and entertainment. You'll probably need both.

I think there has been a brilliant turn-out. I'm so impressed. Today it feels good to be a South African. :)

Done. 1 hour 15 min.

According to our local councillor, Matt Bitkau, the average wait at the Joburg suburb polling stations is 1-2 hours... However, the polling stations in the townships are virtually empty. Interesting, I wonder if voter apathy has reached a new high?

i feel like a kid waiting for xmas! how long does it take to verify the results?

Same here. The first time, ever, I can really say that I'm itching to see the results, as we don't quite know what to expect.... :o

The youngster replied "Ma'am, you should vote for the party who you would like to speak on your behalf. The one that gives you hope the most".

If only all voters thought like this kid.

:/
At least he has the right idea... Dont know how he can believe the ANC will do better this time around, But I guess thats what HOPE is all about.

My Dad went off to vote with our workshop manager, Dave. He told me that the guy was so cheerful as its his first time to vote. Somebody in the queue asked if dave wanted an ANC T shirt and he told them to stick it. (Got my Dad laughing his butt off) He said that everyone he spoke to said that they were voting ANC because the ANC brought us out of the bad times, and Dave did his best to convince the people that the ANC has done jack $@!* and should vote from their hearts rather than vote for a past that is full of lies.

Really made me smile when I heard that and wish others thought the same as well

Got here about 20min ago, waiting in the queue. It's moving along. Just slowly. There were probably about a 150 people in front of me, now there's about half that. There is a second queue - have no idea what that's for.

EDIT: 15h35 - only about 20ish people left in front of me.
EDIT: Voted at 16h00. So the entire thing only took about an hour. Was happy to see so many people standing in line to vote. Not an irritated atmosphere at all.

Went to the polling station at Ramsgate Courts at about 15H50, the queue was about 250 people, and the cold wind was circling the queue people.

Drove to Munster, walked in, voted, walked out.

Went for my free Wimpy Coffee at Margate Beach, was really good Coffee, thanks Wimpy.

Hey, they are supposed to put some of the ink on the skin (top cuticle) and some on the nail.
Grrrrr!

They did, and no way can I get the purple stuff off.... I went up at sparrows and was back by 7.15pm... (BTW, stopped off to buy coffee + donuts for the unfortunate 4 cops who pulled duty for the entire day... You might consider doing the same if you're nearby) My SO just got back to say he heard on SAFM they're running out of ballot boxes and the special marker pens due to the unexpectedly high turnout....!! :D

Ha free coffee from Wimpy - no thanks - we went to get burgers from Wimpy for lunch after voting (took all of 5 minutes that did) and took the burgers home. Opened mine and found it was someones "doggy bag".

Returned to Wimpy, manager couldn't give a damn, in fact he disappeared before I even finished complaining - so an email will go to Wimpy head office tomorrow (hint: I live near Gordons Bay)...
