That is way out of my price bracket but I always drool a little when I see them on the road, awesome machines barring the windscreen which wouldn't work for me

Its a bit pricy thats for sure.... but this one has all the extras, boxes & GPS...

Sho, brand new that'll be like... R240k iirc? Even if I traded my bike in, I'd still be out of pocket R120k... I'm pretty certain my wife would kill me :p Mostly because she wants a bike for herself before I'm allowed to get another :D

What colour is it? I'm quite partial to that dark green one

Its 2nd hand, 13K on the clock. All in @ R220k (new anakee 3 rear included)... I'll lose about 8K on the 800GSA unfortunately, but I have a 650 Twin also throwing in on the trade. They offered me 43 for the 650, I told them to sharpen their pens... and yes its the dark green one :D

For the folks thinking of tagging along on the breakfast run - looking at Sunday, and aiming to leave between 08h00-08h30. Significant others are encouraged to join :D

Bummer, I'm sadly booked up for a Braai on Sunday.

If it wasn't at my place I would have tagged along to do both.

I'd say the inaugural run went well, hope everyone had a good time :D Barring the wind in some places, and that one 'emergency' turn due to GPS malfunction :p

Bloody GPS problems, I've been using the TomTom Rider 5... I hate that thing, what a P.O.S... regular crashes, stupid application to plan routes (Tyre App), which uses google maps, not TomTom maps #MegaFail. Never buy a TomTom again, looking forward to trying the BMW Navigator V, thats for sure.

Well... I was using my phone for maps via bluetooth... and I remember getting some message about the bluetooth as we left the garage, but just swiped it away. And then I had no directions being fed through my comms, so it was all user error actually. That's why the one turn off 'surprised' me :p

I disabled the GPS via coms, kept cutting my group intercom conversation (Sena S20). I also set the tap sensitivity right down, kept asking me to "Say a Command" at speed...

Using GPS on bikes somewhat defeats the purpose for me.

Don't you want to get lost? Isn't that half the point.

Not in the KZN Midlands or Valley of 1000 Hills ;)

It's the one reason I'm keen on the Apple Watch is the basic navigation.

I would like to know if I'm on the right track, but I don't want turn by turn instructions.

And half the fun is planning your route with your mates beforehand.

That
I am all for exploring, but there comes a point where you need to figure out where the next town is or you're stuck. Or if the 100km road you're heading down actually goes anywhere. And with the real back roads twisting all over the show simply heading in a general direction is not always the answer. And even then, you may end up at a locked gate

Like this route that I have intimate experience with. How long do you think it takes?

Answer - about 2.5 hours because of a locked gate. I somehow did that without a GPS because I studied the area before hand (this was a rescue mission), but it would've saved me a hell of a lot of stress if I did have one

Was a nice trip. Thx for the abs test ;)
