Baron Fourways. I was the only person of Colour :D . I was sitting next to Baxteen and the Nefertiti. It was that afternoon that we had that big storm, but I duck after two beers (too many whities) :D JK, I had another function that evening

If anyone is even remotely close to Die Hel, it is strongly recommended even though the roads can be very hectic (just ignore the dangerous roads sign at the start :p). Lots of cliff face twisties and very loose gravel/stones in the corners, I managed to go round in 2nd on most and get the back wheel kicking out. Others I quite happily ambled through in first gear and saved myself a one way ticket to the bottom of the valley, since those corners have quote a steep descent leading into them and I don't have the skill to scrub enough speed on those surfaces. Roughly 42km to the restaurant at the end, took us about 70 minutes.
And the surrounding roads in the forests are also really cool to ride in

Hi ,guys how do you rate the Yamaha tw200? One has come available and the price seems reasonable.It will mostly be used for dirt road and the occasional trip to the shop
 
So the BMW cost R3729 for it’s 20,000km Service today.

Which sounds crazy but then you consider my Triumph cost a grand more (from memory but will go check) for the same service and they didn’t do near the same amount of work and also didn’t give me a loan bike for the day.

This service included the valve check, bleeding brake fluid front and rear (which nobody else ever does in my experience) and then changing the drive shaft oil.

Of course spark plugs, air filter and fully synthetic oil all round and other related filters.

I also complained about what I suspected to be loose neck bearings as it felt like the forks were fighting each other under braking and I was quite right and that got tightened/adjusted as a warranty job.

Best of all is that I only dropped the bike off at 10:00 and was out of there by 16:30 after it was properly washed and stamped and paperworked and everything.

Even more impressive is that I dropped it off with 2,7bar both front and rear on purpose and got it back reading 2,6 F / 2,9 R exactly as per the manual.

Will do a total cost of ownership calculation tomorrow if I remember but I’m pretty sure the bike has been cheaper than both my Triumph and even Buell before that and that’s without even considering inflation.

The take away from it all is that I didn’t even begrudge forking over the cash as I felt it was justified and value for money.

With my Triumph I always felt the work was sub par, the workshop questionable and the general experience somewhat lacking.

Nothing wrong with them, great ag-bikes, practically indestructible & easy to maintain.
 
Managed to do a direct comparison between services for a first gen F800Gs vs first gen Tiger 800 XC and the BMW was consistently cheaper to service and even repair.

Well the very fact that BMW does a complete engine swop in most cases instead of a rebuild makes it probably half the price.

My Triumph cost almost as much to rebuild as the bike itself cost to purchase.

We will see. Jury is still out for me.
So far extremely happy with it. Even the service I'm receiving is surprising me tbh. Seems something happened since I was last there 2 years ago.
I do have a GS as backup though (N +1)

No, no I never had bad things to say about BMW don’t lie.

There was just never a bike for me until end of 2015.

At least nothing that didn’t look retarded Oō
