Man you guys are spoilt for race tracks up there.

It's the one bike I haven't ridden yet, the newer V4 Aprilias.

I expect they will deliver much more than the Ducatis, but again a complete lack of dealers here.

Cayenne should really just setup shop at Canal Walk or something.

Zwartkops, Kyalami and Redstar are closest to me. Big Z is 25km away, Kyalami is 35km away and Redstar is 70km away.
Midvaal Raceway in Meyerton is about 120km away from me, never ridden that one, unfortunately.

Zwartkops is nice, but too short.
Kyalami is going to be epic with the new layout. The old layout was very fun to ride.
Redstar is pure bliss to ride.

I have ridden the new 1100 Tuono and it is a monster of note.
The RSV4's are tiny, light and handle like a dream, and are quick.

I will rather keep my thoughts about Cayenne to myself. No need to open a rather large can of worms here about them.

If it has two wheels and an internal combustion engine, it is a motorcycle. I could care less who says otherwise.
Hah! Well I guess I'll share my 2c...

I bought my 1st ever scooter 6 months ago. Yamaha BWS.

I use it mainly to go to to gym and back home (finding parking is a breeze). And, for some days that I'm not required to visit clients I use it to go into the office.

Really love the simplicity and economy.

The bike I was looking for when I stumbled across the one I bought instead.

Still think it has the best noise of any bike stock out of the box

I was searching for about 3 years before I found a yellow one that was looked after.

Agreed, the stock sound is beautiful, but with a decent pipe it sounds nicer.
And this is mine with the Yoshi slipon:

Just read through the last few pages of this thread, and no mention of scooters?

Does that count as a motorcycle? /hides
The Grom is a scooter...a MAN SCOOTER!

We don't talk about scooters because they are incredibly dangerous and we almost lost a few members to them.

:)

Yamaha BWS is the real deal, but I don't wish the Sym125 I rode the other day on anyone.

Talking about dangers of Scooter vs bigger bike, what would they be?

In a car you generally have two methods of avoiding trouble - swerve and brake.
Typically a scooter is the same, except compared to a bike it has worse brakes and handling
Then on a bike you also get a third avoidance method - acceleration (notice I didn't say speed - simply going fast is not good).

It was more of a joke as we've had more scooter crashes here than bike crashes.

Ultimately they hurt the same.

Personally I find scooters unstable and therefore more likely to crash. But that probably has more to do with price than strictly being a scooter.

Ive driven both the Honda PCX, and the Yamaha BWS. I must admit that the Honda feels MUCH more stable on the road. the bigger wheels make a massive difference and the suspension is also worlds apart!

I got a question for the serious bikers tho...

I own a car, and I use it most of the time, but I like the simplicity of quickly going to the shops, work, gym on my scooter. It serves the purpose well for the short distance travel.

What I dont understand tho is how do people with corporate jobs (wearing a suit everyday) ride bikes to work? Do you have an locker room at the office where you get changed before each commute? Where do you keep the extra kit stored?

Don't have a corporate job is my solution.

When I did have one I said from day one I wont be wearing a tie.

Kept shoes at work and used over pants and regular gear otherwise.

My company became more relaxed over time and the new one I could probably wear shorts most days if I wanted.

Meh! Lucky you!

Without wearing boots I just cant see myself changing gears with Aldo work shoes. So for now twist and go (via CVT gearbox) just has to do! Yamaha Tmax looks like a good future option?

Yeah safety aside I also can't ride without my boots.

So I just have extra shoes at work.

A Kriega bag might change your life.

I have an executive job. But, having got my colleagues used to the Skollie Scoob, when the harley arrived, they were far from shocked.
I still go to work with formal wear on the harley. Then again, I travel 7km's to and 7km from work.
If it rains, I use the car though (until I gain sufficient experience of course).
Not sure how my formal wear would look on a Super bike though.

I actually wear Semi-formal boots, so no need to change shoes. Both are ankle boots though.

I'm in the same, sad, boat. I now have a company car, with company covered insurance and company covered fuel, which makes it massively cheaper to run than the scoob.
So now I have to fix it up and sell it. It hurts, but I can't justify keeping the extra car, even if it is fully paid for.

:cry

At least I have the bike for when I want to go a bit faster than normal.
