Finally got my bike the way I want it to be , Now it sounds like a bike and not a sewing machine after the decat but not excessively loud .
The main reason for the active decat is to give a smoother ride below 3000 RPM , the bike used to buck and cut out if you try to ride it or take off below 3000 RPM , now it is smooth and rides beautifully .
Got rid of the EU emissions BS .
1. Tailtidy
2. Crash bars and sliders .
3. Decat , get that ugly piece of metal out from under the bike and lose a good few KGs .
4. Active decat electronics .
5. Fuel mod so I can vary the fuel mixture .
6. DNA air filter , now the bike has two air filters so it is getting much more air (Reason for fuel mod )

Won't that filter damage very easily sitting there?

Or is there some kind of mesh over it that I can't see?

There is like a fine wire mesh on the actual filter part .
I worry a bit about water going in there but i am sure DNA know what they are doing .

Cost of the fuel mod? I am considering doing the same - also because of ultra strict EU regs. Obviously different bikes but just looking for ballpark

The guy that makes the electronic mods is in Australia and owns a 690 Duke, AFIK he has stopped making the fuel mod , they were 85 Australian dollars plus shipping and i am sure he was not making for your bike .
Power Commander is the one to look at but bloody expensive .
Warranty would be a big worry with your bike .
My bike is a simple 1 cylinder , your bike is very complex and i would think twice before doing any mods on the electronics .
I did a lot of research in to my mods on the KTM forum before deciding what mods i actually wanted and also bang for bucks .
The electronic mods i did are plug n play no messing with cutting wires , so if there is a problem with the mod it is easy to unplug .
The EU regulations has caused most of the bike manufacturers to tune the bikes very lean which is good for consumption but not so good for performance .

Warranty on my 6 year old bike? :p Not too worried about that, much more worried about excessive pinging leading to a hole in the cylinder (or whatever else). Just don't want to go the power commander route since like you say it is expensive. And I'm not convinced that a different ambient air temp sensor will do the trick long term as the ECU is sure to adjust

For those who maybe could never justify the money for a full blown Sena or other Bluetooth headset option I bought this based on the following review.

It's a crazy stupid low price and worked out to R600 in total.

Can't comment on quality yet, but I trust his opinion on these things.

What about that Booster Plug thing they make for the GS's?

If anything you should have less pinging as all mods make it run richer instead of the super leaned out stock system.

****

Found it.

I suspect that the ECU learns that the temp sensor is wrong (well offset rather) and compensates for it rendering it useless after a while, how long that while is I don't know but I would expect it is not very long. It is after all a closed loop system under constant throttle (feedback from the exhaust will quickly override any ambient temp inputs). Plus, that unit is really only worth R100 max so if I thought it was the way to go I'd make it myself.

Basically, if you're pinging under acceleration the booster will help. Under constant throttle it is useless. In my case I don't think it is pinging yet, but my issues are under constant throttle.

I use a Aftershocz Blues 2. its a little bit of a mission to get to sit right over the ears when you put the helmet on, but the buff and long hair really helps keep it in place for me.
I also find that the bone conducting gives me a better audio quality with earplugs in then a Sean does, espesially on the highway.
Call quality is not all that great, I can hear perfectly fine but apparently there is a lot of road noise to the other person on the call.

I also paid R1300 for the headset, and I can use it outside of the helmet with no issue. but the battery life is poor, I get about 4 hours out of it, but it is only 400,mAh...

Yeah not to worried about calls and might not even hook the microphone up at all.

Mostly for tunes and GPS.
