I was driving the speed limit. And if you see a car that likes to speed his way to 80 in a 60 zone at a robot (because fsck, he just has to reach the next set of lights first) then you don't pull in front of him.
cool, we understand each other :D

i just can't seem to make up my mind.. i love the mt 07 but its cost is a problem, with barely any second hand option in my price range (absolute max of 70k), what do you guys think about the BMW g 650 gs??

Plenty of Kawasaki ER6's in that range.

Also Honda NC750. Not pretty but very practical.

650GS is a very different bike from the MT07. Nothing wrong with it though and you won't beat BMW for customer experience.

i don't know why i never checked out the er6's, looks good and definitely in my price range, thanks for that.

Finally got my bike back today after three months.

Been so long on the Thruxton that it actually feels like a brand new bike because it's so different and almost like test riding it for the first time all over again.

Feels like I"m sitting on top of the front wheel and have so much steering leverage. And it's POTENT compared to the almost docile Thruxton which I actually started to feel had just the right amount of power for an every day bike.

He he, no worries. Good bang for buck and great fuel economy.

ok i like the 2012-2013 ER6F/N my buddies are saying leave the 650 and get the duke 390 at the same price New.
52kw 64nm on the kawasaki
32kw 35nm on the duke 390 2015

opinions? i know i've been on and on about this just don't want to waste money. Be brutally honest.

What are you going to be using it for? I have the duke 390. Awesome bike for commuting around town. But although it can go over 120, it's working hard at 120... Not really good for highways in my opinion.

Yoh it's a tough choice really.

Personally down here in Cape Town I wouldn't touch KTM because their dealership is shocking and I don't know a single person who owns a KTM that still owns it or wishes they didn't because it's that bad.

I haven't ridden the 390 myself but have heard good things as a pure beginner bike.

As I recall you have ridden before and are getting back into the game? I would say the ER6 is still the winner there as you'll have more longevity out of it. It's a bigger bike (how tall are you? The 390 is tiny) and as you can see has more power but isn't crazy either.

I know the F used to have ABS on certain model years, but surely the N has as well now? That might be the only major decider for me if it's important to you.

I was about to ask this very question about how does it do at highway.

It's always my worry when bikes are straining at 120 and don't have much more poke as it's actually quite unsafe. Which is why I normally steer people away from the little 250's and such.

Go with the er6. Can't miss same motor as the versys.

What I mean is nice and robust. Lots of torque. Cheap to run. Great dealer network.

well it'll be a fun weekender bike to start off, but a lot of friends stay in jhb i stay in sasolburg thats a cool 100km away. later on should i switch jobs i'd use it to commute between home and jhb daily. the bike will have a tough life fulfilling business and pleasure.

yeah getting back into it. i'm a small oak, 1.68m. the duke drew my attention for abs, though i have heard some people prefer no abs.. power is a concern cause i don't want to get "used to" the power of the duke and have it seem very weak eventually.
No doubt the duke will be fun but for how long. i do like the duke for being small too. but the hassle of selling then buying bigger again urgh..

or am i just being stubborn, maybe the duke to learn and get comfy and after some mt 07's get cheaper i can sell? but how much will i lose, will it be worth it. i hate wasting money.

Just read the choices, and my R70k would probably go to a Honda transalp, the 700 twin. If you can find one, a 650gs I mean the 800 twin version. Er6 as backup option.

What about a triumph street triple? That could be my future ride ;) seen nice ones for about 80k.
