I just had a new battery.But bike wouldn't start every now and then so when I tested battery at dealer it was fine except
It wasn't as there was not enough charge to turn over so it was replaced under warranty. Wouldn't have known without the printout of load test.
However my start prob wasn't over til I added another harness.

Usually they don’t even have a clue how it works.

The reality is 99% of the time of you know how to ride you’ll never even notice it nor need it.

It’s the 1% where you get it wrong by not having paid full attention or gotten on the brakes quickly enough or panicked and definitely would have gone down otherwise that it’s nice to know it’s there.

We talking about three meters and less than two seconds to get evasion measures in place . I don't normally ride ABS equipped bikes but that day I did . Mine was the last example here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t1JRRywzXPc

I’ll probably never ride a bike on the road for an extended period again without ABS.

At least not in traffic with third party anomalies at play.

The rear ABS being a bit sensitive does irritate me more often than not, but not enough to ever risk switching it off.

I'll agree given the amount of time I commute in traffic - anything to reduce risk . Funny you should mention
Rear ABS being irritating I also find this to be true when in traffic and it pumps for a lack of a better word
Even when you rest toes on it the feel keeps changing..,sometimes it feels firm other times during lane splitting it feels loose
Just annoying. Maybe it's a BMW thing.
 
Anyone know if it's legal to temporarily affix a white strobe light for better visibility to others when doing the N1 n2 parking lot hell runs ?
These strobe lights are openly used by bicycles but you get powerful ones that would supplement the headlight
Or whistles?

The pre-priming thing is very much a BMW thing yeah.

But my Triumph would lock up the rear ABS and do the whole kick back if you so much as just looked at it.

BMW only does that if I’m in say a dusty Parking complex and only use the rear.

You get headlight modulators that make your normal headlight flicker for this purpose.

Not technically legal I believe but since it’s white probably won’t have a hard time about it.

But being a BMW why don’t you just for the LED starship enterprise lights?

It got halogens and an index finger lever which one can flick like a trigger which alternates the
Low high beams as opposed to a permanent switch but while VERY effective cutting through you need your hand to be doing other things
But dozy drivers DO start waking up three cars down and moving over
(And I acknowledge this with hazards)
The strobe torch is far more visible to 50 meters in sunlight but can't be used at night
And straps to whatever ...but technically it's still white light so I must maybe ask the local traffic cop if it's legal before I try
I can't find any Legislation on the matter
 
Yeah I’ve found the DRL’s to have made a huge difference since getting the BMW.

Go so far as to override the automatic thing in winter and force them on when riding in lit up areas and in traffic.

Used to be run by Clinton Pienaar when he was still racing & sponsored by mCubed - as were a number of other riders. mCubed used to also rent bikes out for track days.

Kyalami no longer run half-day track days on Mondays (which was when the half-day experience mentioned in the article used to take place). The Saturday full day events were part of the regular SA Biking Academy track days.

Track day at Kyalami now runs between R3k and R3,5k per rider depending on who's hosting it. Clinton held a track day at Kyalami yesterday - cost R3,2k. A PILLION stint on Clinton's 2 seater is R1,500 now!

Gerotek day is R1,650. I'd recommend that for new riders, then a track day at a later stage.

Bloody hell that’s insane.

Track School used to be R300 odd bucks down here and the BMW One was R500 but then you got food and drinks and so on.
 
Red Star surely must have track days? I saw the pillion advertisement in Superbikemag and it's a thrill ride it seem for birthday boys.
I don't care if Clint rode the mountain course, nothing could entice me to ride pillion with any racer because they re not used to the weight changes behind them.

Usually broken down into three groups.

Beginner/Slow

Medium

Fast

The slow group will have a Marshall per rider to give instructions after the fact and they normally get a training brief in between sessions.

Talking about Track Schools now.

Track Days are usually just a free for all where all the racers rock up and dominate the track.

It is worth doing. Great fun & he knows what he's doing - it's not a 10/10ths lap in any case.

Gerotek day or the Motorrad training days at Zwartkops. You also need to understand that there are different courses & reasons for training.

Start with learning how to handle the bike & gain riding skills & confidence. Then do a defensive riding course - especially if you are commuting. Invaluable skills.
 
Fecken dog fecken peed on the engine of my bike sometime during the weekend.

When the engine got warm, it stank a lot.
