The thing is that Spirit gets all the fleck for being a chinese re-brand while having claimed to be sabs and ece certified.
Nobody has actually done the effort to test the full range of helmets
As soon as something is cheap, there is a percieved quality issue with it, as soon as something is expensive, circa BMW, then the suppliers are ripping us a new one.
So what the hell is it??? Or are we just a nation raised to complain about everything from the get go, due to out political natures?
No idea where politics come into it.
Spirit IS a piece of ****. No question about it.
The SABS has jack **** to do with helmets and no other helmet manufacturer has that so it's meaningless.
Had anyone actually verified this ECE certification? Never mind that it's about as useful as the DOT certificate which a piss pot helmet also passes.
I don't need to test these to see how they fall apart even without crash testing them. It's simply not worth the risk.
The flip side of the coin is kind of irrelevant but ultimately you do get what you pay for. There aren't expensive helmets that are unsafe, it simply doesn't happen.
There are midrange ones that are equally as safe or better though.
More expensive helmets do win at marketing sure but often it's not about the safety as much as the weight and comfortable materials inside.
Obviously like the leather in a BMW being of a higher standard is going to be nicer and more expensive than that of a KIA but it's still leather.
The problem is that Spirit is the fake pleather stuff and won't stand the test of time.
Consumers shouldn't need to test this stuff. Spirit of they believed their product to be of quality would submit it to the likes of Snell and Sharp to prove it's a good product.
The fact that they haven't done that says it all that they know it will fail and hurt their sales.
Keeping quiet and punting bull**** is much easier way to make money with little effort.
