You and I have very different ideas of what a bargain is. That's stupid money imho- i wish it was the type of thing I could afford :(

I fully understand this logic as relates to bikes that fall over by themselves if things go wrong.

However in the case of brakes they'll either work or not work. Similar with chains and sprockets and the like if it works when you put it on it won't magically stop working down the line.

Now if you are worried about bolts coming loose as you ride or something....well then you should be equally worried about someone else doing it and whether they did it properly.

Rebuilding an engine though or something like that where the rear wheel can possibly lock up when things go wrong...reservations in that regard I can completely understand.

(Bike wheels are generally setup so the axles are self-tightening by the way and therefore won't just come loose by themselves.)

Old pads against the disc

Removed the pin, pushed the caliper. Old pads fell out.

Pushed the caliper more on its slides, this pushed the pistons in.
Slipped piston side pad in, pushed a bit more, wiggled other side pad in, replaced pin

Compared to the price of other bikes I think it is well priced. But I take your point that I may be more likely to spend bucks on bikes

I got R40k trade in for my 14 390 from RAD at the end of 2016. It had 8000 kms and a few extras.

Ja compared to other bike prices it's good. But bike prices in general are crazy. A dirt bike nowadays is R120k. I really wish bikes were more affordable.

I got a 2016 Suzuki gixxer 150cc, 9500km, that cost me R30k new.
Speed and power is the only thing I might be looking at.

I bought one about 4 years ago. I still miss it.

Great bike, very easy to ride but also a lot of fun, especially with a pipe to let the twin rumble out.

I can't comment on the price as I don't know what they are selling for now.
 
Need some advice please. I'm based in Gauteng but looking to buy a 2011 GS650 from a seller in Cape Town. How worried should I be about rust/corrosion? If it's a concern, is there a workshop anyone would recommend in the Cape Town area where I could have the bike sent to, to have it inspected?

Thanks Sir. The year and mileage is not a issue for you? If you had R70k to waste now would you buy it or something else?
The price looks comparative as per other selling sites. I'm just considering maintenance for now.

The stance and upright ride looks good, the small-ish form/frame looks similar to my gixxer.

I'm not looking for a super bike/aggressive ride.

Daily commute.

LOL this is funny... did the owner ride in/on the beach or live on Camps Bay or West Coast road?
Even then, its not an issue.

Those are nice bikes and go well , price looks ok .
My friend has one and i have been on a few rides with him .

Thanks. I'm clearly missing something obvious here (which is why I'm asking for advice) but how come it's not an issue?
 
How is rust an issue in this day and age from the air. Even my family and friends in Mitchell's Plain don't have a rust problem, <3km away.

If you drive with your vehicle through water in land you will have the same issue as some living in Cape Town driving through water.

The air is not corrosive.

All the new bikes have so many modes including rain mode that i doubt it will be to much for her ,problem may be height not power .

Good point, can use the rain mode until she has confidence in her wrist!
