Same here. I was pretty much coached through everything except the incline stop and pull-away. At our testing grounds (Centurion) they test that on the sly. They tell you to use the road with the incline to enter the motorcycle testing ground and then check whether you stop at the stop sign and pull away correctly. My test took no more than 15 minutes in total.

I've heard good things about this bike and I like the look. I'm mostly commuting with my bike to work these days so a more comfy bike seems like a good option for me.

Ja if you are commuting why the **** would you want to buy another super bike.

Honda CB1000 if you want to keep it fast and sporty, but an MT07 would be an excellent option.

Triumph Street Triple another.
 
Just had my first impromptu lesson on my brother's 650 Transalp. What a rush!
 
Moving up in the world - I'm no longer on my skedonk of a Bajaj. I took ownership of a BMW G650GS over the weekend! I am still struggling to shake my habit of using my indicators but I'm sure that will come in time though. :twisted:

On a more serious note, the heated grips are a godsend with this cold front rolling into Gauteng. What a massive difference warm hands make!

That's an under statement! Im still wearing summer gloves, I really thought I had frostbite while riding this morning, and I left home at 6:15 every robot was a chance to warm my hands on the engine.. Lol

Well done on the upgrade martin, iv been looking for an upgrade since February, can't make up my mind
 
Any recommendations for winter gloves for us mere peasants not blessed with heated grips? My hands were absolutely freezing out there this morning. I have 2 sets of gloves for mostly summer riding. Tractech evo and Alpinestars smx1. Something that provides decent protection and around R1k?

BTW how do some guys stand the cold? Always see a few bikers with minimal gear on in the morning and no gloves!

I've got cheapy winter gloves, cost me like R350 or something last year. The finger tips still get a little cold, but nothing unbearable.

I have easy overs and my jacket's inner is not ... in :erm: My new boots is also turning out to be great for the cold, as nothing gets in them :)

Thanks, it took me forever to decide. I've been shopping around for at least 6 months. Quite a few deals fell through along the way but that seems to come with the territory when buying second hand from private sellers.

I'm going to assume they have a short commute because I don't want to call anyone stupid.

Easy overs, jacket with inner, glove inners and normal gloves. Bike has a windshield, but no heated grips or grip guards

Surgeon gloves underneath you current gloves. A well kept secret is also news paper or pantyhose for isolation.

Picked a pair of inners (lycra fabric) from Randburg Motorcycles for R110 - work like a charm. The only issue that I have with surgical gloves is that your hands start perspiring quickly and the cold air starts cooling it down rapidly

Nice! They are dependable bikes those - not too much power so as to frighten off people just starting off but enough power to hold 140kph when necessary.

Any new bike is a memorable occasion, hope you have plenty safe miles ahead
 
Heated grips are the best comfort feature on a bike. Now I just need something to heat my knees up and I should be good for winter.

... Or I just take the car...
