Starting to see my problem...

It's just unnecessary hassles for little benefit.

O trust me.. I've forgotten a couple of times. Can squeeze an extra day out of a charge if I hurry it up, or accept that the last 10 or minutes will not be recorded.

I got it after some dick in a corolla aimed for me, on purpose and I had take evasive maneuvers, to get a car between me and said dick. If I had footage at that point I would've laid attempted murder charges. However, since the camera, I've only had good footage of normal traffic.. :)

That's where I like Sena's "tag" system where it's always running and you just hit the button to record the past X minutes permanently otherwise I'd be consumed combing through ****.

Yeah. If something noteworthy happened, I need to remember to save it somewhere. I just format the card every Monday and Wednesday. Probably a lot better systems and methods, but at R500, I can't really complain.

I use a garmin Virb, not the best camera but the mount is stable, i even carry the helmet by the camera mount.
Also it has one large button-slider, slide it and it turns on and records so its perfect for the helmet.

Have a 64gb memory card holds about 8 hours of video 720p 60fps. i keep a 500gb external to store the data which i dump once in a while, the drive holds 1 year on average of footage.

For those looking for a small cheap bike.

About helmet cams. Are they not a risk in case of coming off? Eg you hit your head against the camera/mount.
on my previous helmet i drilled a whole straight through my helmet and put in a massive bolt into the go pro mount to hold all together.
Rode it like that for years no problems

How? You have a helmet on...it’s on the outside of the helmet.

Or do you mean cost wise? Shouldn’t you be more worried about the multiple tens of thousands of rands of motorcycle instead of the camera?

That’s what insurance is for.

Mine is stuck to side of my helmet with a product called 3M Dual lock. Kinda like super velcro. If it gets dirty I can clean it with a brush as it doesn't have material, but little plastic mushroom looking things instead. It's super strong, I can pick up and carry the helmet with the camera and shake it around as well. If it should fail, I have an old lanyard attached to the camera housing and it is "hooked" around a piece of foam in the helmet - when the helmet is on between my head and foam that lanyard won't come off. So far, I haven't needed the lanyard back-up as yet, and it's been in daily use for about 6months or so.

Also, if I have an off, I'm quite happy for the camera and mounting to separate from the helmet, seeing as there was some reports that it was possibly an action cam that put Michael Schumacher in a coma.

Did you give a shite about your head? I try to not have sharp pointy items anywhere near my head if at all possible.
Yeah the head of the bolt inside the helmet was a little annoying at times.
Have a new helmet now coz some affirmative shopper took my last one from garage.
Wont be drilling into this new one

I bet you if you had an off the paramedics on scene wouldn't have said:"Man, that bolt stuck in his head looks a little annoying." :)

What was your thought process to arrive at the conclusion that the most logical thing to do would be to put a cylindrical piece of metal into the thing designed to protect your head?

No Im dead serious i did do it coz i was afraid of losing a very expensive Go Pro. It was tough and never gave trouble.
I used my go pro everyday travelling N2 SWest to CT in the traffic. Caught some awesome taxi footage in that time.
Helmet amongst a few other things was stolen from garage break in about 6 months ago

For future reference, helmets and powertools do no go together. Ever. Keep powertools away from helmets. :) Glad you have something proper at least now.
