In this rainy weather maybe chucky should screw some extra rubber into his tyres for more grip.

Opinions?

How? You have a helmet on...it’s on the outside of the helmet.

Or do you mean cost wise? Shouldn’t you be more worried about the multiple tens of thousands of rands of motorcycle instead of the camera?

That’s what insurance is for.

No, I’m taking injuries. If you land on the camera, the entire force of the impact is concentrated onto one spot. From the videos I’m seen a helmet has no problem absorbing the impact when it’s spread out, like a wall or the ground, but a concentrated force can puncture the helmet.

It'll snap off before it punches through I assure you.

I have all the bits to put together a Raspberry Pi cam on the bike, just finding the time to put it all together. 2 cameras for front and rear, storage, can ssh in to grab video.

And a jetski for mornings like today

Not really the entire purpose of the helmet is to spread it out.

They literally test the helmets by dropping them on a spike.

Besides the mounts on these things are hardly that strong so it would just bugger off almost instantly.

But it's part and parcel of why I don't like them, aerodynamic resistance is a thing and I'm constantly aware the thing is on my head as it pushes around.

Why do you need a cam on the helmet, is it to look around and stuff? It seems like a better idea to mount it on the front of the bike somewhere instead.

So who's been braving the rain we've got in Gauteng at the moment? I was dripping wet when I came in to the office, but some people taking much the same road got stuck for 2.5hours, took me 25 minutes. So I'm smiling even if I am cold and wet. :)

I prefer helmet cam, front facing cam doesn't capture all the stuff happening around me nicely. Having the camera look where I look is much better for getting those details that could otherwise be missed.

Been there done that.

Makes for exceptional boring video.

Purely for insurance purposes it would be fine.

Yip. Spare clothes into the topbox. Jacket and pants are waiting for me in a locker - gonna really suck putting those on this afternoon, but, I don't think I've ever smiled as much being wet as I do when I'm wet on the bike. :)

I've come to the conclusion (after much ammo dropped and time wasted) that all rainsuits leak into the crotch area eventually. (they never seem to leak out from the crotch though )
Now I just use the cheapy Johnson Workwear rainsuits and when I start noticing a swimming pool developing around my nuts, I just get a new suit and donate the old one. Can't stand sitting at my desk with cold, wet meat-'n-two-veg all day

My oxford one has done well thus far, what I found helps is standing periodically to prevent pooling of water while you are sitting. Its the pooling that eventually gets through the stitching.

-===If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? What if they screamed all the time for no good reason===-

The beauty of this post combined with your forum handle, should be a unesco heritage site. :)
