MyWireless, Ethernet, Linux

yep , i have tested everythign works as u mentioned , and more :P
ppp fails on the carrier detect. so i guess modem or something else.

I will phone tonight ,
and read that article , but i think i am giving up now :P

good luck with the kernel compile, i did it
just takes a long tom to do.

I find this very odd.
Ok, I did do some reading, maybe a print out of your log would be good.
aslo you sure there is no setting anywhere to make it try and use ipV6 ? from my understanding, you would get that carrier detec failure in that case. Also what version of freebsd you have?
Seems there are some nags in the 5 5.1 area's.

If youre on 5.2.1 then tonight, I should run into the same problem as you. I will be upgrading before any recompilations.

anyways ... enjoy :) Thats what freebsd is for

Anyone who set's this up on FreeBSD because of the following ows me allota beer :)
My server is up, and I solved my problem.

The following article is what I used to setup my config files.
Nothing is different to him.
Only difference...
He mentions about mtu and mru's and stuff like that.
And he uses a limit of 1492 or something like that.
It seems these values vary from provider to provider, some people are actually able to set this to 1500?
Anyways...
I sat quite a while to find the setting that seems to work 100% so far, and well, it seems it's 1466.
so

set mru 1466
set mtu 1466

those changes should be it.
After all... I'm browsing here aint I :)

Oooh... and 'dammit!' no need to recompile kernel for tcpmssd stuff..
I kinda missed the fineprint stating that it's been built in by default since 4.3.

Later

Where did you get that info ? (/me get's all pissed off for not being told that)

Microsoft recommends 180, one guy recommends another ...
wher did you find that out ? from sentech ?

just a post to clear my name ;P
The problem i had wasn't just me being a dumbass.
honestly.

I decided to try again recently , now that i have time.

i managed to convince someone it was my modem that was faulty
and got it swapped for another modem.

and well what do u know, it worked, in like 5 mins.
so this post is just here to say it wasn't me being stuuuuupid.
honestly....
