N00b fibre question

I know this sounds silly, but Vumatel has updated their map. They're expanding very fast at this rate.

Yes, looks to be most of Octotel phase 3 and 4 that Vumatel have now already covered (I've seen the trenches being dug on my way home), except the part I stay in of course :p

Haha yes, first one that reaches my house will be the one! All that sucks is on Vuma you get 4/1 for R599(CISP) and Octotel R599 for 10/5(CISP). Im a bit on a budget:crylaugh:

I called Octotel this morning, phase 3 is currently set to be trenched in September, and live in October. I was advised to pre-order via my ISP of choice as they will install on a first come first served basis

Cape Gate phases 2, 3 and 4 are now set to "Trenching and reinstatement underway. First clients going live during September."

So I got a call from Vox (who really do seem to be on the ball, prompt follow ups, call backs etc), and they reckon first clients going live in December. Note I am in phase 3.

Another mybb member informed me yesterday that Octotel started trenching in his area (also phase 3). So lot's of information going around, but not much of it quite lining up :p

Nothing seems to be lining up from octotel, next thing you know its next year January Vumatel will be starting our street next week, excited!

Octotel is apparently roaming the streets in my neighbourhood (according to our chat groups), and they are sticking to trenching first week of September :) I think I may have misheard that Vox guy, the two months do sound similar

That might be true! I really hope they are finished and klaar September :)

They are now busy with the small portion of Cape Gate phase 3 that is north of Langeberg Road (since I doubt they'll cover the Pinehurst complexes)

I see Octotel has put up a sign on the other side of the pole (vumatel on the other side). Phase 3 is about to kick off with the trenching. On the other side vuma will be finished first.

So our BC decided to tell Vodacom to hit the road. We going with Octotel now! so can't wait for phase 1 to go live. They already started to survey the complex but seems install inside will take a month on its own as its over 200 units! can't wait!

Ja would love to see a comparison graph in terms of fibre-install speeds.

OpenServe took like 6 months longer in RoyalAscot than planned...
Octotel in Woodstock still not life after starting in March(sic?)

Doesn't seem like much has happened in the last week. They've fixed most of the driveways but I have not seen any other progress

No further progress (in my area) in the last two weeks. I'll often see some guys at the staging area in the morning, but as to what they are doing I can't tell but not a single fibre strand has been pulled in yet. Going live by end October seems like wishful thinking :(

They are pretty slow.
I wonder what the first original "going live" date was? Our area went live with vuma last week and octotel is still not in sight. Best of luck

Original date for phase 3 was end September I think. I did see some fibre (yellow cables) being pulled into the area across from me on Saturday, so maybe they are making some progress.
