N00b fibre question

Aroma Park has had their access build completed about a week ago so they are ready once it goes live. Vredekloof Square still pending the access build due to slow BodyCorp response but hopefully will start within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully they keep to the date this time but last i heard it was still on track for End of October so only a few more weeks and Phase 1 and 2 should be live!

Octotel in Welgelee/Vredekloof is going live 1st November. I just spoke to them. Vredekloof Square might be delayed as the body corporate is sleeping a little.

My Tenant in Aroma Sands said the wires was pulled thought to the units 2 week ago and according to Octotel its been signed off ready to go live, same with Bergvrede and Aroma Park.
 
Saturday Vodacom parked outside Aroma Sands promoting there fiber packages. The guy there seemed clued up about whats going on in that area hence them promoting as fiber going live 1st November.

I placed an order yesterday for my tenant, Webafrica confirmed it going live the same date and that ill have it installed no later than the 15th November as we are some of the first to order for Aroma Sands at Webafrica.

Cool thanks for the feedback have asked Octo on a status updated regarding Vredekloof Square as they had to deal with Apexeon first and wait for the contract live date to expire and that did happen a week ago. was hoping the BC would wake up and get the DSP signed off so they can start the build this week as survey was already completed and done. At this rate i might consider moving to Aroma Park as rent is about the same with better looking units would not be surprised if we get delayed till 2018

If not mistaken Vredekloof Square would have been live in beginning September but like you said the deal with Apexeon had to expire.

There is a company offering wireless service in Vredekloof Square at the moment, think they called Tribal Networks. My tenant in VS is connected to them and he wants to stay with them because there prices are quite cheap. Think he's on there 10mbps uncapped package for R350 a month. At least you guys waiting still have them for some internet access till the fiber goes live.

Yeah i currently have a 50MBps package with TN but consistency of the connection leaves much to be desired we had around 5 days downtime a week ago with tons of ping spikes currently i would not recommend them to anyone using it for real time services the guy running it seems cool enough so its quite a sad state currently he just has 1 link feeding all the clients in Vredekloof and at times it can't handle the capacity of all the clients and we get random spikes of interference from other APs too i have mailed Ruv at Octotel for an update on whats going on as the DSP was suppose to be signed off last week Friday but looking since no work has started as of yet i doubt it and as you said most complexes around the here are wired already...i assume you are an owner at Vredekloof Square? as a tenant i have no say when i told them about Apex being Voda only i basically got told to sod off so yeah cant apply any pressure from my side regarding the matter
 
Didnt know about the down time.

I own 2 units in Vredekloof Square, 1 in Aroma Sands and 1 in Aroma Park.

All my tenants want fiber so they rather call me then the company doing the install or the ISP's regarding packages and pricing. By this time i can start my own service provider from doing so much research and contacting people :whistle:
 
Seems like some people in phase 3 are getting the house portion of the fibre installed already, even though the area is not yet live
 
I got a call earlier today, installation of the fibre on my premises is scheduled for the 9th November (tomorrow). Still no fibre in the streets yet however
 
Yeah my line was also installed last week Monday and now i got the news "6 weeks" till it gets spliced to the live network there have been so many delays with Octotel i would not be surprised if most of the N.Subs are only up mid 2018
 
The email I got later on said 4-5 weeks until the area is live (it got stuck in spam). But yes, I'm mentally preparing for late January, if it is ready sooner then great
 
Anyone with an inside scoop on what the blue blazes is happening with the northern suburbs rollout? Has anyone even seen them pulling fibre in the streets?

Delay after delay after delay pretty much. Phase 1 was suppose to be spliced 2 weeks ago but has now been delayed for another week, last week same story (Will be live before end of the week) ask for an update get pushed back another week..currently have no hope for Octotel getting Phase 1-2 up before 2018.
 
Someone in our neighbourhood got an email from Octotel via their ISP
We cannot speed up the process of getting all our customers live before January due to extra work that still needs to be done

So I'm having a fibre party in June 2020 for when it finally goes live... gosh this is starting to really tick me off
 
Anyone with more info on the rollout? Vaguely remember a post on Facebook saying the area is live in the last working week of December and that it's now just a waiting game for them to connect from the manholes to the grey boxes
 
Well they've now blown through the last of the fibre, but another team comes after to splice it together. So another 2 weeks minimum...
 
2x green lights on the ONT now... almost there I guess, but gosh, why not make the whole area live at the same time?
