Anyone know where to get one, and what it'll cost?

We were watching TV on Sunday and the server just died. No lights indicating any sort of power, so I assume the PSU packed up.

It's the main server driving my setup, so don't really feel like rebuilding another Server to replace it

Have you opened up the PSU? It might workout much cheaper to repair the PSU rather than to replace the PSU or possibly the complete MS.

Try a normal desktop PSU as it has the same 20 or 24 pin connection. If that works then you know it is your motherboard.

nah bru bad assumption. youll need to narrow it down a bit more before you start buying stuff. psu and motherboard are the prime suspects though.

also take care if you decide to open the psu....some high powered capacitators in those things.

id go with wasabee.

Yeah I'd get a new N54L in the short term. That will give you time to get the PSU of the old one repaired , then you flog the N36L.

So much effort. I also thought maybe the motherboard ... But then there's usually at least some reaction to the power button.

I have four of these things... So it's not a train smash.

Thanks - mine doesn't even have a light on.

It seems there's a reason these were so cheap.

Looks like my other N36L is also going out - its also used as a media player in another room, used about once or twice a month... moved it to the main lounge, and it won't play HD movies without constant freezing. Brand new install, that was working in the other room a month ago.

Only change is it maintains the library now (to mysql on another server)

The harddrive is constantly active. Go figure.

Time to get a decent storage setup.

Hmmm. I noticed mine reboot a few times the other day. Don't know if it's software or hardware but seeing all these others fail has me wondering.

I noticed this one was off a lot. Ignored it because I hardly use it, they're both n36l. Hope the two 40s fair better.

I am holding thumbs for the n54l I just bought, how long did the 36 last?

I was under the impression that the MS comes with a 1 year warranty from HP. I would expect it to be a lot more reliable than one of those android sticks though which are essentially 'voetstoets' type purchases from unknown Chinese mail order suppliers. What usually happens when the device is faulty is that the customer has to send it back to China at their own expense before a replacement is shipped. The shipping often costs more than the item is worth and the customer doesn't bother.

(seems 3x N36L , and 1x N40L)

Got the one working (the ram was borked) - the other one is stone dead, nothing - think its the psu, tiny little thing, maybe they're not that expensive?

Interested in selling the remains? I've got one with a friend Mobo, ( And I assume the PSU is still okay )

PM me :)
