N95 poor battery life

My experience:

left home with a full battery at 7am

used 2.5 hours of GPS ( I was the passenger and i must say, even without the voice navigation enabled, it worked 100% )

made and received plenty calls

Surfed online for about 1 hour whilst GPS was running

Took 3 photos

listened to MP3s for about 15min

Returned home in the evening and changed simcards ( takes battery to switch on and off )

Put phone on charge at about 10pm with low battery warning

i dont think thats excellent nor bad...i can live with it...i had my car adaprtor with me incase but did not use it in order to test

( if u have a car adaptor, i think u should not have any problems..)
pity that USB charging was not built in via the supplied USB cable...

all in all: this is THE best phone i have ever used

How long is your nose now, Pinoccio? :)

I found it very funny that all the n95 fanboys are defending the phone's poor battery life, instead of demanding that Nokia release a new battery for it.

Let's use Piesang's 'car' scenario - would you buy a new Audi RS4, if you knew that you have to fill it up every 50 kilometres?

Well, I didn't say I wouldn't like to get a better battery for the N95. By all means. If there is one, bring it on.

What I did say is that it don't bother me at all.

Will you buy a extra battery if you know you can get 2 days extra??

Lets see:

Audi RS4 - 50km = Nokia N95 - 2 days
Citi Golf - 200km = SE P990i - 4 days

Mmmm

Yes, I'll take the RS4.:D:p

Wont the size of the battery matter? The E90 should have a bigger battery hence it will be longer lasting???

The E90 comes with a 1500mAh battery and the N95 with a 950mAh. But that doesn't mean the battery life will be better.

Can you switch off the GPS receiver?

If the UMTS and GSM bands have 2 different radios, then I would think the GPS needs a 3rd radio. So switching it off should help?

:)

Yes, unfortunately some people will go through their whole life with a Nokio. Shame.

Well, not really. I had different makes of phones, including SE's and I always tend to go back to Nokia.;):D

I like to try out new stuff but at the end I'm just dissapointed that's why I go back to Nokia all the time.

The GPS receiver is only on when you are running the Maps applications.;)

If we're talking speed, let's get the equation right :

Audi RS4 - 200km = SE P990i - 4 days
Citi Golf - 50km = Nokia n95 - 2 days

:p :p :p

It would seem you're used to disappointments, so the Nokio is an obvious choice then. :)

You're absolutely right!

Ok, you can add it for the nokio users, otherwise it might confuse them. :)

You'll never win boetie. You can just as well stop playing this game. I didn't say the Nokia N95 is the best phone in the world, it was the people's choice.

Do some researching before you reply again.

Why do anyone care what the other one thinks is the best phone? Do you buy a phone cause you like it or because someone else likes it? I really cant give a rats ass what other people think bout the N95, I enjoy it very much so no one is gonna change my mind with these "its plastic", poor battery life" etc etc remarks! Seriously kingrob, do you think I'm gonna trade my N95 for a P990 because you think its the best phone out there, maybe for what you need from a phone, but not for me...I hate the stupid touch screen and silly little pen, I hate that its bout the same size as an actual brick and 2 megapixel camera??? Seriously, just because your use to 2 year old technology, dont bad mouth our new phones just because you "think" its crap. Remember that the N95 is a first for Nokia, just like the P900 was back in the day...can you remember how crap that phone was? So all I'm saying is yes, the n95 has a crap battery and some otherthing might upset some but as time goes on nokia will overcome these problems just like S.E. did with the P900!

You've summed it up well. When people ask on this forum which phone to get, all the nokio fanboys shout 'get a n95!', without even asking the person what their specific needs are.

GPS - most new cars come out with it, why need it on a small screen.
5MP camera - only in name, i dare you to compare pics between a pic by a n95 and a 5mp digital camera
and so the list goes on....

Uhm the GPS in cars cost around R20,000.00:rolleyes:

Obviously you cant compare it to a digital camer, has got not so much to do with the 5mp part as it has to do with the lens of a camera. most digital cameras have a 8mm-85mm lens, slr's have 8mm-200mm lenses, while the N95 has a 2.8mm - 5.6mm lens, this means that anything further than 2m away will start to loose detail. Still great for taking pics of friends, girlfriend in bikini etc etc
