I was told by adsl helpdesk that the 021 712/715 adsl exchange went down at 21:00 yesterday and that the fault will be investigated when people arrive for work at 08:00 this morning. I guess this is what best effort means ...

DSL was stuffed most of last night for me (Evander, Mpumalanga) - Could connect to my ISP, but nothing else worked.

It was working full speed again this morning from 5:00 am onwards.

Mine was totally knackered this morning at about 6am - max rate of about 2kb... maybe this is another initiative by the powers-that-be to save costs... :(

No Saix notice?

Telkom now say that there is general network propblem that is causing this. However i have not received a SAIX notice. I recieve all SAIX notices but there has been none for this area or a general failure notice either. I wonder i am getting a srtaight answer. General problems are normally sorted out within a few hours not days!

Both my home and work ADSL connections in PMB are working fine and have been since approx 16h00 yesterday. I would say Telkom are not giving you a straight answer.

Also in Pretoria and speed isn't great, but then, it hasn't been for a while. I am on 384 and I am still able to browse "ok" but not great.

well, im in pta and it was good this morning up till about 10 minutes ago. Now all except http has gone to **** ! The most frustrating about this is you cant call telkom about it because "broadband is only designed for http!". I hate them so much...

Cant connect on Googletalk
Cant connect on MSN
Cant connect WoW

But international sites and locla loads. WTF!!!

Edit: No everything is dead except local! GOOD JOB TELKOM!

Eventually thought my router packed up but this morning was running fine again!

Shot in the dark here

I wonder telkom problems are not linked to the widespread rain that is currently falling. Every time its rains there are almost always problems. Many of the Telkom installations are not or no longer water proof. They still have cables that use paper insulation believe it ot not. And when these get wet its a nightmare.

Staring to sound like IS with the clouds/ sunspots etc!
