Need HELP regarding line upgrade!!!

My internet does not work when I do that...

I've contacted Telkom...A technician will get back to me within 1-2hours

Going to ask them to do a port restart? Is that correct?

You can tell them you are paying for a 10Mbps line but it's locked to a 6Mbps sync profile, you want them to recreate your port.

+1 what he said, also if you are so inclined, I find on the odd occasion I have to contact Telkom, Twitter works best.

Thanks for the help guys....Anyway still waiting for them to phone me.....Got the phone hanged up in my ear twice at the call centre and for twitter....well I simply don't get a reply....even after 5DM's and like 10 tweets

Perfect.

You're on 10Meg with decent line stats.

Full speed and stable, now I just want to know how long have you been paying for 10Mbps and only getting 6Mbps?

Well I don't know if you guys remember but a few years back(Maybe one) Telkom upgraded there lines eg. 1mb-2mb, 2mb-4mb, and my line was 4mb, so I got an 10mb line....At no extra cost...BUT, my area's max speed was 4Mb/s and I had a 4Mb/s package from Mweb....A few days ago I checked again and it was at 20Mb/s.....So I only upgraded my data package from Mweb Yesterday to a 10Mb/s

So on my Telkom bill I pay for DSL Fastest but the price is less than on there website right now.....It basically comes down to the same price as the 8mb one.....So yeah I actually paid more than a normal 4mb line price.....Prob 3years+

How much is that, the 10Mbps line should be R425. I would be upset if I was paying for 10Mbps for months and they locked me on 6Mbps, but that could also be that your exchange was just upgraded this year or the end of last.

Good evening,

Wonder if anyone can give some advice. I requested a regrade from Afrihost - 2mb to a 10mb line. The sales consultant did check if the line can upgrade to a 10mb line and he confirmed.

Telkom did the upgrade on their side, I can see it if I log into my router:

Upstream: 928 kbps
Downstream: 7488 kbps

But now all of a sudden I cannot connect to Afrihost? Now they are saying I should regrade to a slower line. Look, I don't know much about ADSL etc. but for me it seems it must work. Any advice?

Presumably those are your actual up/down figures, and not simply the attainable ones. If they were only attainable figs., then the upgrade might not have taken place, and you could still be on 2 - 2.5Mbps.

I wouldn't rely solely on what Afrihost says. You can check on this link http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ (click "Yes" and then put in your landline #, while connected to any ISP through ADSL - page slow at loading, at the moment) what you're currently on, and the highest speed you can get.

Depending on your findings, I'd still take it up with Afrihost on one of their dedicated feedback threads, where there's much more chance of them responding to your complaint.

EDIT : This seems to be the main/only thread in use for Afrihost -

That sounds very strange. Can you please send me a PM with your DSL line number or your ADSL username so that I can check if there are any issues.
