NeoFlex available next week

I really have no idea, but I think the price may be in the region of R 600 for 10GB/15GB based on the NeoConnect pricing. This will be significantly cheaper than any standard Telkom/Vodacom/MTN/iBurst offering with the same speed and usage limit.

I might just tata ma millions... tata ma chance with them.

I just worried about the over billing that I have read about. Please RPM, when you chat to them again, please ask them about this. There are a number of threads in the Neotel forum regarding this topic.

Im still confused if its wireless or wired. But i think its a similar system to that Jawug and ptawug, where you have an anntena on your roof and aims LOS to a high point, i could be wrong, but thats why i would imagine theres higher latency.

I use Emburst with this anntena system but get higher latency than normal wired

Neotel is wireless!!!!!! As you do not have any cabling going to your house, you can take your device anywhere as long as their is coverage.

Like be in Sandton, Rosebank, Fourways, etc and as long as that area is covered you'll be able to access Neotel services.

Very Similar to JAWUG, but more expensive equipment used etc.
Go onto Wikipedia and type CDMA-EVO.. Neotel does not require any antntenna what so ever. The base station of NEOTEL could be about 2 KM from your house.

Latency are high local 200-300 ms, international 300-400

neotel will hopefully be a real competitor before other habitable planets are discovered

I haven't been following this "neoflex" but geez is it only being released now! When did we first hear about it? A year ago i think?

soon as they have coverage in my area (well they 200meters away) i am moving,

Thanks for clearing that for me, nice one on the exclamation marks was always tought one was enough:p. I'll hit wiki now:D thanks again

what I dont understand... why have a uncapped version on prime but not on flex. What is the difference between the two? Does it all have to do with a contract?

Nope. Higher upload and download speed. One would think thought that the exclusion of voice and sms would pick up the slack.

Wireless will ALWAYS have higher latency than fixed line.

Q

Why is traffic shaping not mentioned in their FAQ?

Has anyone confirmed that the connection will indeed be best effort unshaped?

Neotel have only ever had unshaped connections. If you have neotel prime or lite you might need to request that incoming ports are opened.

It still is 100% unshaped though.

If they come in at R60 for a 1 GB account without charging a "connectivity rental" then I can see many ordinary home users jumping ship. Then again, this is probably not where they aim to make the most profit.

Neotel did not want to divulge any pricing, simply saying that it will be included in the press release accompanying the launch next week.
translated:
we don't really know what to charge, so let's put the word out in the media and scrutinise any pricing feedback they receive, take the average and pad it by 25% + VAT

how is neotel with international news servers? are they any good?

WTF is the point of these postings if there is <CENSORED> coverage???????????????????????????????

Well, I had coverage last week, and now I don't.
sigh

will wait for reports on effectiveness of external antennas

This isn't going to be upcapped, correct?

Nope, there will be a 10GB and 15GB initially which will cost in the region of R599 (for the 10) as I have tested and queried. Ladies and gents, I beleive this is a winner. :D
