If I had uncapped, I too would download that amount. For like one month. Then I would either get seriously bored (what am I gonna download next.....?????) or run out of space....
But on the serious side, I know people who have several Terabytes of space on their computers...
 
Thats a lot of stuff ... the honest question is all those movies and series and games and apps, etc, etc that you download ... can you honestly watch/use/play them all?
 
Thats why I'm happy with 10-15gb per month ... maybe a bit more ... cause then I can download the series I want to watch, and not every possible series available on the planet that I'm not gonna watch anyway :P ...
And I have a solution to piracy ... Telkom should pay a part of their profits to the media companies and then say that downloading series of the internet is part of their service :P
 
I was looking at NeoConnect Prime Unlimited again, I'm so happy to have this product coming, R999 for unlimited internet data...

... IT MUST COME!

It not on-internet ... its on-net, which stands for on-network i.e. phonecalls from neotel to neotel as opposed from neotel to vodacom/mtn/cellc/telkom/virgin/iburst.

At least they're doing something. They offer a connection that's faster than an uncapped 512k for R999. Closest ADSL is what? R1500 all incl? I'd say that's a decent price drop!

As for what to use the bandwidth on... My girlfriend works from home quite often and does so over the internet. Her flatmate uses the web a lot as well. They share a connection and that immediately ups bandwidth usage quite significantly. I live with my mom and sister. Mom runs a business from home and sister studies. 3 People = lots of data. I often receive links to funny/interesting YouTube videos that I never open because it costs too much. Just watching a few YouTube clips a day (My girlfriend used to) chews A LOT of bandwidth!
 
not that i condone all neotels problems (slowness, bad coverage) - but you cant fault them for pricing. sure they might be steep... if you were expecting uncapped 8mbps for 300 then yes, they are hideously expensive. then again, if you were expecting that... well umm.... :rolleyes:

I doubt that R1500 offer would be truly uncapped either. I wonder if Neotel's will prove to be?

I suppose at least for now with their fibre backhaul and SAT-3 access they should be fine.

In Agreement RPM, next we will all be asking for 3 Series BMW's at R80 000. Everyone expects Neotel to break their own bank so we can download nonsense on a daily basis.

Their offerings thus far are fantastic if one considers that it is only the start!!!
 
It's quite strange really... I read neotel does this neotel does that. Does anyone actually have a neotel connection or is it a figment of my imagination?

Thats easy to fix. Everyone shares the cost of the line rental but you bridge the router so that everyone pays for and uses their own ISP account :p

Although R999 for unlimited Internet for Home users is a good price drop it is still too expensive IMO and I cannot justify paying that for Internet per month. :/

I think R999 is reasonable compared to other options.

I agree. With increasing interest rates, petrol price, food prices and the threat of increased electricity tariffs, who will be able to afford Neotel? I am trying to cut back on expenses as much as possible. It is a very bad time to enter the market. If only they had more affordable packages.

I agree

no matter what, people will always moan and groan about speed and price.

Although the current device is "nifty", its limitations do not make it suitable for all.

Hopefully the above device becomes available as part of their SMB offerings.

The item on my wishlist is:
a mini PABX with 2 analog
an Ethernet port for connecting PC's
2 simultanious calls with Internet (even if the speed drops)
(optional) connect SIP phones via Ethernet
array of packages similar to current offerings

would be great if that mini PABX was available in larger 4 or 8 port models.

That should get the SMB market jumping.
