Neotel consumer tariffs revealed

Well 2.4Mbps isn't that bad but it's certainly not mindblowingly fast either. We need to give them a chance, I know it's taken them forever to get here but at least let's give them a fair shot at taking down Telkom. We can't expect 10Mbps uncapped right from the get-go..
 
Wait and see.

First reaction was no but after some more thought it's growing on me. Going to wait for feedback from others who take the plunge first.

In the end I'll be paying the same as now with a large jump in connection speed if it all works out to plan.
 
As I read the Mybroadband test of their service you don't actually get the full 2.4 mbps...

It wouldn't bother me so much if they had introduced more packages thatn just this one.

My main gripes:

1) No calls and internet at the same time = unacceptable
2) 24 month contract (if that is actually the case)
3) R600/month is a lot in a country where the average salary is still less than R2000/month
4) Lack of ethernet port seems crazy

I feel Neotel is just testing the waters with this package. I think it is a good strategey for any first consumer launch. I am sure they will come out with more flexible and cheaper options in May (or whenever).

Personally I am looking for a resonable pkg: No Contract, Unshaped, No limit.
I will most probly, convert my telkom line to a prepaid (waya-waya) to keep the same num for incoming calls and as backup.

NTel should understand that people will not dump Telkom so easily and that Telkom will not be sitting on the side lines and watch NTels game. As a customer I would first like to test their service - voice only or data only or both. It would help if Neotel could bundle some free National calls in all its packages.
What if Telkom decides to upgrade all ADSL users to next higher speeds at not additional cost or reduce the Closer 5 package by R100?
Competition is a reality for Telkom, but for Neotel it is a Fact.

I voted no due to their service not being offered in our area (Johannesburg North) and their inability to give me a time frame interms of when they would be rolling out services in our area.

They also would not divulge what areas were covered.

Apparently you don't anymore. A couple of months ago I got my DSL and the Telkom lady laughed at me when I asked for me free modem because I was doing a self install...

We still live in hope but it seems they have a long way to go yet.
 
I'd like to know how Neotel came up with R599. What is the cost price of bandwidth? What is Neotel's markup?

That is a huge problem with the offering as well. Would have made much more sense to make them free to Telkom as well.
