I think this is a good start by Neotel. When comparing like-for-like services Neotel is certainly a great deal cheaper than any competitor.

I'd rather see a comparison chart that compares this against typical overseas offerings. I realise that if you've been forced to eat sh-t for many years, then you'd think even e.g. worms would taste good, but let's face it, we are eating sh-t, and we're still just being made to eat worms now. I refuse to say anything good about any company until they STOP, and I mean STOP ripping us the hell off.

Don't get me wrong - vote with your wallets all the way (best thing you can do) - but let's at least be honest and not pretend we're getting a good deal in the process.

I'm still skeptical about what the quality's going to be like, especially when lots of users pile on the network. Quote Ajay Panday: ""We picked up a number of pain points for consumers during this research process, including the issues relating to the perceived speed and capacities for internet access, lack of voice quality and reliability, the complexity associated with obtaining & setting-up services and a lack of true value for the customer," says Ajay Pandey MD and CEO at Neotel." (Note the implication that slow speed is merely a "perception" by users.)

What a poor start, 10GB for your PRIME offering.. I think uncapped 512 for R600 a month would have gotten better response. What is also disappointing is that you pay R599 for a connection, 1000 minutes AND 10GB, then you have to pay another R700 (at R70/GB) for another 10 gigs (without the modem and the 1000 minutes), this makes sense? lol

What a bunch of spineless shortsighted whiners Telkom has turned you whole lot into!

You been so starved of the internet experience for so long that you think the net is only there for the occasional email and internet banking.
You sit content clamouring for slower connections with less throughput, satisfied to get 30GB of local bandwidth. Local Internet is an oxymoron that no-one needs. FFS even ANANZI can't be reached with local bandwidth. That says it all.

This is by no means a perfect solution, and it is clearly aimed a certain target market, but Neotel is doing things right as far as I can see.

For one thing, no Bullsh1t - the price is the price, no hidden line charges and connection fees, just the price!
Its simple, 10GB of access, period. Use it or lose it, if you need more, you pay for what you use.
And the price is right - far cheaper than any comparable offering out there and a 25% saving for me right out the gate.

It doesn't take a genius to see that if this is their approach to wireless, their fixed line offerings are going to be killer.

Now if only I didn't have to bother with a contract, could connect my alarm, and the phone worked with OS X :o

A whiner whining about whiners. Now thats funny LOL . Unfortunately not very constructive though.

We all have different needs. We all have different bank balances. It doesn't do much good to insult those who are different to you. Tolerance and understanding doesn't cost a thing.

i'M STICKING WITH TELKOM

CAUSE IT MAKES SENSE. I WILL BE GETTING THE SAME SERVICE I HAVE BEEN USED TO AND ITS ALWAYS THERE AND I CAN AFFORD IT. NEOTEL IS JUST A WOLF DISGUISED AS A SHEEP. BETTER THE WOLF I KNOW THAN THE ONE I DONT. lol:D

Lol @ ou812ltd with 97 posts...

When did MyBroadband become so polluted with all these low-class trashy "LOLZ", it's disgusting, the quality of discussion has really deteriorated. You don't use "lol" in an online forum, this isn't mxit or YouTube. I used to come here for at least slightly intelligent discussion, not this lobotomised 12-year old sh-t.

I'm laughing my ass of at most of you whiners . . .
Neotel CAN NOT compete with Telkom. What Neotel has budgeted to build their entire network, Telkom spends per quarter upgrading their existing network.
Do you guys really think that servicing the smaller cities and towns is a priority for Neotel . . . dream on. Why do you think Neotel first rolled out their enterprise servises to the wholesale ISP's ??? They are in it for the money, and not to do anybody any favours.
Since they are allready supplying most of the ISP's with bandwidth, has any of your rates come down ??? Do any of you really think that they will go into competition with themselves and their main customers ??? Who do you think they would rather keep happy - the large ISP's paying millions per month or a bunch of whiners who's not willing to pay R599 per month.
I am also amazed at the general idea of a fair use data bundle of this community . . . fighting for a 3-5Gb cap is definitely not using the net . . . checking your mail, logging onto FNB and using up the rest reading the myadsl forums is pathetic !!!! That is not what the net is for !!!
Uncapped is the only option. Until Telkom and Neotel provides the option, everybody is basically screwed. For interest sake . . . I'm using a uncapped 1024 connection, and I use about 180Gb per month up and down.
My opinion is that the Neotel deal is fair within our current enviroment. Only time and a lot of submarine cables will improve our situation. If you are planning on gaming, forget about Neotel - their latency will not improve, in fact it will only get worse as they connect more customers. If you want <50ms ping times, get ADSL.
If you feel that the R599/month is to steep for your pocket, stop whining about it. Rather use your existing 1Gb cap, and go and surf the web for a better deal, or a second job.

You have got to be joking!? Low class and trashy? Sorry, but I really do have to LOL now. Another dude seriously PMSing today.

LOL was being used on forums, emails, chat, etc, long, long, long before mixit and YouTube was even thought of.

Now, back to the topic at hand.....

Neotel, no contracts, please.

Neotel, no contracts, please.

I will give them a serious thought if no contract. The same thing with no contract and I will write off the sms' and phone line since they can't be used while on the net...
They won't get too many contracts until they have proved their support and infrastructure is good.

It's actually relatively recent, totally overused and almost always inappropriately so. Who the heck just laughs for nothing in the middle of a conversation? 8-(

I voted no but for only one reason. I think their pricing, under the current circumstances, is ok, not great, just acceptable. What I cannot accept is a 24 month contract. Under no circumstances will I willing tie myself to a telecoms company for 24 months.

If they make it month to month and rent out the telephone, then I will snap them up in a second.
