Neotel consumer tariffs revealed

The service doesn't suit my immediate needs therefore I wont take it BUT for some it's a perfect solution (like ABE) for various reasons. The value of a service isn't always measure in price and speed...there are other factors which come into play for allot of other individuals.

Where has all the anti Telkom sentiments gone??? The more I read this forum the more I feel a vast majority have become so negative about ANY good that's being done and look right past the silver lining and only see the rain a cloud brings.

I strongly feel a few of you need to go take a Business 101 class to see how costing really works. Money doesn't fall off trees for investment purposes and a business's debt isn't paid off through charity.

Give Neotel a chance to find their feet. Telkom and the likes have had YEARS to mature their products...Neotel is taking a stab at the market as an infant. It will soon learn what clients do and don't like and I'm sure will adjust their strategy accordingly. I think the important thing to note is that their service will cause some sort of a shake up in broadband costing whether that only be on the wireless side or fixed line as well...time will tell.

Don't expect everyone to be all excited about a service that is not going to be of any use to them (like me). We have been waiting a long long time for this, and this first offer is really not gonna cut it for a lot of people out there.
 
I think the current Neotel package is a bit steep for the average user. If they had a package like 3 gigs international cap + free local cap at a nice 1.5Mbps for R150 then i will definitely change ISPs :) *hint* *hint*

Please, please, please, drop this 3GB nonsense. :) Telkom has beaten us into submission concerning 3GB. Lets think bigger. At least 4GB ;)

Seriously though - if Neotel wants to attract customers they are going to have to sweeten the deal with different cheaper packages. We all need something different. After having to live with 384 for several years, I'd love to have a nice fast connection. But I'd prefer to have a slower connection with more GB's.

No contract Neotel!!

I pretty much agree, the price doesn't seem that bad for what you get IMO.

Esp. considering 10gb! That's way better than dobroadband2 which I am on. Maybe not if there was more use for the local cap.

But I still want to know, do you have to sign a contract for this package?
 
I use ISDSL 30GB Local Only on my 4MBit ADSL line. No ways im switching to this Neotel offering yet. Needs to be better.

And this kills it for me.

I need an Ethernet device not a USB only one. What is the point of having an Internet connection if I can't share it with the other four machines I have in my house?? Am I supposed to run around plugging and unplugging the modem into the machines here?

R600?? You must be joking. Some of us don't need 10 gigs. Where is the 5 gig option for R300? That would save me R266 a month and I would port immediately.

24 month contract?? Again you must be mad. Getting locked in to contracts in our telecoms market is usually not a good thing. Why would I want to be forced to use them for 24 months?

R70 a gig for bandwidth after the cap has been used. This is a kick in the balls for me. Exactly the same price that I pay for my prepaid bandwidth I use when I have hit my ADSL cap.

I also can't wait for them to start oversubscribing their towers. That's when the last bit of hope inside me will die...

I cannot believe that I waited all this time for these guys...
 
On second thought it's not really that great. Especially considering the contract.

You could use internet connection sharing through a router I think though (for connecting multiple PCs).
 
I'm confused at who Neotel are actually targeting with this initial offer? At R600 its certainly not budget, but there are a few turn-offs for higher end users ...

High end consumers - speed & latency not best avaliable, no sim voice/data, 1000 min on-net has little value
SME - no sim voice/data, no fax, 10Gigs too much

Maybe downloaders - 10Gigs unshaped , but why the 1000 on-net mins (rather have extra 2-5 Gigs)?
 
I just don't want to use them for voice...ever. I have an awesomely portable cell phone for that. Just give me data, data and some more data. Aren't there enough users like me to justify a plan like this?
