lol i got my work uncapped internet so yeah thats pretty cool just i keep forgetting to switch router off when i go home so i can use account at home
So no-one knows why the p2p in SA is so crap even though you can get 30 local gigs for just over R100?
Since upload speeds are so incredibly rubbish here, SA people rather use an FTP site to upload once and download multiple times. It just makes more sense.
Is it possible to call Neotel and ask if I have signal at my current address?
Well im assuming that you have 30gb local on the IS network ? If so, then you automatically have free access to the IS news serversi could if cybersmart wasnt my isp![]()
There is so much good educational stuff on the net that even to subsidise 10Gb at R100/m would be a good investment for the government. The question is how many non-geeks need uncapped at R500pm and how many need 10GB per month ar R100pm?
Us Geeks are a very small minority of the total community.

I think were all missing something here.
Remember that Neotel now also uses the SAT3/SAFE submcable, same as entire RSA. Even from my work we don't get anything below 175ms, and they have their own segment on this cable.
Wait until Seacom comes, this cable would provide far better signal quality. Since its new it hasn't been patched and joined that often yet. And with a theoretical capacity of 1.8tbits (+/-) it should start opening up the pressure on the low caps we all have.
so instead of just expecting miracles, use your head for a second. No capacity means no capacity weather its Telkom, Neotel or Brakpan-Wireless.
Surely with the Terabits of local bandwidth they have just lying around they will be able to offer a truly uncapped amazing speed local internet.
Where they could make a difference is to facilitate cheap local web hosting, because unless they have a news server (unlikely), all that amazing local speed will just go to waste.
