Neotel network problems persist

Um it took that long? So simple yet they ignore us, sorry but telkom is looking good these days with line rental but that is it. Neohell has no backbone local and no local caps I think so why do they even have people seeing that Iburst is way better than them.

And wait! Theres more!! Neotel understands baby monitors to be wireless broadband devices!!! Neotel, if you read this, F U !!!! Come to SA thinking you all the rage, no better than a con artist......

Seriously? After nearly a year in business they give us this?!?! Have they ever heard of planning? What a load of rubbish.

The telecoms provider added that while its CDMA network provides for theoretical maximum speeds of up to 3.1Mbps, NeoConnect subscribers should expect real world speeds of between 300kbps and 700kbps while NeoFlex customers can expect speeds of between 450kbps and 900kbps.

I think everyone knows about the theoretical and real world speeds that CDMA has to offer

It's the 10kbps and constant disconnects that is the problem for Neotel clients.
Note that I am not one yet ;)

@rpm: This sounds like a re-hashed standard response from Neotel's marketing department, and not a real answer. Can you approach them for more specific, detailed comments on the real issues, rather than broad, sweeping commentary and an equally sweeping response? It's just sensationalism rather than journalism.

This article not doing you, Neotel, or your members any good, since the resulting thread is mostly just the usual set of moaners, including those who have no direct knowledge or basis for moaning. From the discussion groups, it's clear that there are many Neotel customers with varying degrees of performance and happiness (to be expected), but those with real issues are not helped by this, and those who are mostly happy are now confused.

Shame. You've clearly never used iBurst (or presumably not Neotel either, or you'd realise how nonsensical your statement is). iBurst wouldn't know what a piece of fibre is, and has the worst connectivity of any provider, quite apart from a non-functional wireless network and an accounts department from Auschwitz. Oh, and they think they own the colour orange...

Yesterday and Monday I had Neotel reps coming in to our new office in Fourways. Both of them were showing me that Neotel runs at 2.4mbps on the Neotel prime ... and the one got the hint when I told him I prefer telkom ADSL and actually said its probably better to stick with Telkom for now, the other one didn't get the hint and the more I told him, the more he showed me all the "theoretical" stuff :P

Ja I think someone is confused. Undercapacity is the problem, not overcapacity

So this is the best they have to offer? I'm glad that I stuck with Telkom. One day I might consider Neotel once they can provide DSL and prove they have sufficient capacity.

Neotel are more considered with supplying connectivity and bandwidth to corporate customers. Perhaps they should have delayed their consumer services a little more instead of rushing products to the market due to demand.

they blame overcapacity but are still doing a lot of advertising... is this ethical ??

Overcapacity? Didn't Neotel say that they wanted 50000 subscribers by the end of the first quater of 2009? Not sure whether they have 50000 subcribers yet but I don't intend to become one of them.

Telkom is celebrating

Telkom must be celebrating articles like this. Telkom has, by many, been accused of not supplying great services and the reason being that there was nothing to compare them against - so they were compared against the ideal. Now with another "operator" people are begining to realise that maybe they are not so bad.... - The worm is turning.

This article is pointless! When will these issues get resolved? They're not saying much

I sent Neotel a request for service 14 days ago and three follow ups asking when they will respond. They have not responded at all.

They are not coping.

I am getting 2Mbit speeds on Neotel and all problem I have is with the disconnections but it can also be te USB or USB router causing some of the connections, I also get 4 bars signal on the phone
