Neotel network speed degradation update

No, they have to pull finger and build more base stations etc.

No, they have to improve the current base stations to the point where it withstand every user (including future users) they have connecting and browsing at the same time and still get the speeds they advertise along with 400ms-900ms international latency and sub 100ms national latency.

Then they can start building more towers. ;)

Cape Town Network

Hey Neotel

Is Neotel looking at the network in Cape Town and surrounding areas?
I don't live 10 km from Town and i am at witts end with the network.I have even bought myself an antenna.

So i hope so.....

I put in my cancellation request this morning after not being able to access my routers settings that was just the kicker i needed.

Is there anyone here that has Neotel in the Goodwood/Monte Vista/N1 City Area?

Would like to know what your connection is like.

Let us know how that goes... I'm almost there buddy, I'm almost there.

Don't do it buddy!!! My con is working great now. Like minimum 96kB/s. You just gotta chill and wait for the stations to be fixed. It was the EXACT smae story with iBurst.

My Internet connection has been pretty unusable for the whole morning. Im experiencing 20% packet loss. And while browsing, the speed spikes (at anywhere between 20 and 100kBps) then carries on loading slowly (between 3 and 10kBps).

Anyone else experiencing similar problems today ?

My RSSI is 76
PN is 36

Thanks for the advice. I tried, it hasnt seemed to change for me. Still getting 20% packet loss.

Well something has changed for me. I hope this speeds can stay.

Cape Town City Bowl by the way.

Its weird, I tried doing a speed test, it hits 700 -> 900kbps, then stops. I check my server and notice that the PPP connection has died.
It happened twice, third time lucky, http://www.speedtest.net/result/434143858.png but it only got up to 408. On the other thread complaining about the connection dying with RapidShare, someone mentioned that it would happen when ever their download reached above 500kbps.

Its quite a weird problem, almost seems like some kind of feedback mechanism killing a connection when too much bandwidth is being used.
Hopefully the problem is going to be sorted out soon, because at the moment the internet connection is pretty much unusable.

I also experienced the same thing:mad:

I'm getting disconnected every minute or so. Can't even browse the web. Been like this the whole day since I rebooted my phone - it had a black screen this morning. I'm in Oakdale, Bellville with a 4 bar connection.

Same happens here connection dies on speed testing.
but on the other hand latency is stable with 0% packet loss.
No problems with browsing or watching videos.
Dies when downloading with a manager going over 100KB/s but using the standard Firefox download going at 40KB/s it is stable with no disconnects.

Same problem here. Been up and down every 5 minutes (or 5 seconds during bad patches) Dunno what they're up to in Cape Town
