Neotel network speed degradation update

Has anyone heard anything from them about the problem? A noticeboard similar to SAIX's one would be great! I'm sure it'll would drop the call load to their call centers if we knew what was wrong when there are problems (like now)

My last answer from Neotel, they where doing server maintenance last night, and something went wrong. Well doesn't look like it will be fixed before Monday, but this is a fairly regular occurence at least once a month.

Wonder if it was a monkey by any chance:rolleyes:

Edit - sorry I did highlight 'they' - so it should've read a troop of monkeys.

Sorry all I'm really pissed off today, this is not me.

I'm right there with you mate, and I think a troop of monkeys might be giving better service at this point

Something has definitely changed on Neoflex data in Vorna Valley - I'm getting 800-1200 kbps download and 500-800 kbps upload with ping times of ~170ms local and ~370ms US on speedtest.net. I'm also seeing the "connection dies on speedtest" problem.

The signal strength light is back in the green, and the 1x/EV-D0 light is lit again.

Some progress at last.

Same here. Speed Test results of over 900kbps yet my connection seems to be dropping every 2 minutes.

I've also noticed my latency is ALOT better. I hope its not just because the network is stuffed and not being fully used.

You guys seem to get proper speed tests, I have been struggling with Neotel for the past month and a half, I can barely surf, on speed tests I have not gotten more than 150kbps. Half the promissed speed, and that was only once... :D

One positive thing is that my connection does not drop....but it does not help at all...

Anyways, lets hope they upgrade and do what they have to in order to fix all the complaints logged against them....

I dont know what you guys are going on about... My line is the fastest ever.

This is the first time i have ever had over 1000kb/s at my house EVER :D

I'm also getting over 1000kbps on speedtest

But i fear that it might just be because the network isnt being fully utilized as many people are experiencing problems and unable to download anything.

Hopefully it will stay with the speeds when it returns to normal, but I'm doubting it will.

Restricting my total download speed to less than 256kbps (32 kBps) is the solution. Been going 30 mins without a disconnect then went just 2kBps over it and got an immediate disconnect. Switching back to 28 kBps and it's stable again. Got a 4 bar reception and normally get about 120 kBps download speed.

You lucky, restricted IDM to 28KB and it disconnected :(

Were you browsing at the same time? Definitely works for me - not getting any disconnects now. Maybe try 25 kBs? I hope this helps.

Its not THE solution, its to just allow you to be able to do something.

THE solution would be that Neotel fixed the problem.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted - back to 50-150kbps down and 30-400kbps up.

i cant even stay connected long enough to do a speedtest. WTF is going on?
