Neotel network speed degradation update

Do some speed tests and post them here (if you can do it) - do a tracert to google.com as well and post results.

Couldnt do a speedtest this morning - nothing would load... i figure they musta been doin something on the tower... When i get back home i will try again.

When I left home this morning, I checked my downloads, they had dropped to a average of 30KB/sec from last nights 40-50KB/sec.

It's getting worse, Neotel rep knows about it and I'm sure he will tell us something soon.

I want to kick and scream and kill people, but I'm having faith in that the problem will be solved... Call me a idiot, but for some reason but I just have faith that all our issues will be solved one day and all these problems will just vanish - for good!

Totally with you there - the first true competition for telkom cannot fail - I will not let it happen! I will provide pro-bono consultation services until they come right!

Hi guys

Last night was the first time I could actually do anything on the internet.

Played WoW for most of the evening with a latency of about 550ms. I had 2 long spikes that pushed me over 1500ms for about 5mins then it came back down. Over the course of the evening my latency gradually increased and when I packed up at about 10:20pm I was on about 800ms...

Not jumping for joy yet, waiting to see if this is going to continue.

so it was still working in Midrand at 10:20pm. Mine was dead completely at 11pm.

My signal wasn't great... was sitting on 3 bars for most of the evening and occasionally lost all bars!

My RSSI is normally around 70-, last night it was at 80+

If anything, as it gets later, it should get better not worse!

Not necessarily...

I would expect most people are surfing the net etc during the day and evening, and then start all their downloads before they go to bed... (does that make sense or am I making things up?)

With respects to my latency though, it may increase over the evening as all the Europeans get home and log into WoW.

I'll try do some tests tonight, but now that I can play again I'm not too keen to do much else for a while... need to get my fix! :P

When mine was loosing signal, my RSSI went to 126!

@PeteGT; @SuperJo
How come both you guys are in Midrand but your quality is vastly different from each other? You would expect the service to be the same unless:
a. You are on different towers.
b. Intentional username throttling on the network.

*Edit*
c. Or some other wierd shyte !!

You're probably suffering like the rest of us, Neotel rep has openly admitted to there being problems on the network - they are working on it.

I thought the Midrand tower was fixed this weekend.
