Neotel network speed degradation update

I thought the Midrand tower was fixed this weekend.
Current speed test 7.44pm
Vorna Valley/Kyalami
Download 154kbps
Upload 28kbps
Ping 621ms

I thought so too, not sure why mine was so good. My signal is low this evening and I have a latency of 2500ms in wow... :(

Time for some answers Neotel Rep, or are you going to disappear for another couple of months like the old one?

Neotel Rep.

I must attest that based on personal experience you are ill prepared to provide service for the lonely consumer, I would hasten to think of the quality of service offered to corporates.

Being in recent receipt of an invite to attend your business session in Sandton and as a decision maker I unfortunately would not be able to consider your services until you are able to adequately deal with the issues presented in these forums. Note: These serve only an indication of what we as a corporate who demand consistent service levels could expect.

I as a consumer of your services do hope that you can finally address the issues in a timeous manner (I prefer not to have to go back to Telkom), however your lack of open dialogue on the underlying cause provides much room for inaccurate debate.

As for the session we will communicate in open dialogue, of course if given the opportunity, that your service delivery at the moments is not on par with your competitors with whom we currently do business.

+1 Very well said ;)

I think neotel needs to start a forum on their own website where we can discuss these issues with them - similar to how DSTV has their own forum. I think it works extremely well when there are multiple reps who can offer expertise in different areas. Additionally, it would open up alot more lines of communication as many prospective and current users of Neotel would look to the neotel website for answers, not necessarily the mybroadband website.

Just a word of thought. I also know that youll believe we should call in these complaints, but I think a forum brings the added benefit of providing a larger scope to a problem, where you can see how far, wide and deep a problem goes. Hell - itll even help in that people can see answers to questions which may be pertinent to them!

Just a thought...

And dont pull a MC, and upgrade your forum and lose the old forum complaints,

Which they have done since all the HD Pvr Issues

The planned upgrades to base stations will happen over the next few weeks. Till such time that the upgrades are done, we have adopted the following approach:
• Short term solutions are being implemented on a case by case scenario – this includes all tickets and posts / reported problems by customers via the My Broadband forum and via the call centre.
• The upgrade schedule will be made available once finalised, likely in the next 2-3 weeks.

For the short term solution to be successful, we will be allocating engineers to carry out site visits for the affected areas, gathering engineering / network data and then implementing the recommended solutions.

Basic information from those who have posted in this thread will be required - please oblige when requested.

Thank you.

since this morning everything is down on my side...My prime phone doesn't even show evdo but 1x...Funny thing is I still have full bars & rssi 66...but before this problem with this stats It still toulk me 5min's to open google.....Luckily I still have my TELKOM DSL line so I can complain as I canot even hear the customer representative on the other side of my neotel phone..........................................................

The rep was just now kind enough to phone me & as I told him & I think most of us feel the same way...All of us are g*tvol of telkom & I know alot of you guys cant get dsl from them but I (& as I said most of us) feel that I am prepared to wait for Neotel to sort out this problems & stablise their service. I just don't want to pay for the service while I'm not receiving anything from it & would happily restart my contract at month 1 (as I've only had it for a month) when everything stablises & start paying again.? Am I the only one that feel this way?

Can someone please explain why these problems occured in the first place and why these sites need upgrading? Are these sites oversubscribed and cannot handle the number of customers?

Thanx to all & lets hope it keeps up...

@theenemesis

Let's hope it stays that way. Ping time for a national test is still pretty high. Sub 100ms would be great.

Hi all,

Many of you have PM's from me requesting info, when you respond, please indicate if you have an antenna or not.

I just got Neotel prime yesterday. It was styling till about 2 hours ago, when it just seemed to hit a brick wall. As I type this, I can see my bandwidth graph, which is looking like a childs rendition of a spikey pit. Its peaking at 50kB/s, but averaging 2-3 kB/s.

I've been monitoring the traceroute for a while now:

Before this problem, there have only been slight problems ( line drops and such), but at the moment its pretty unusable.

Im in Cape Town, not too sure where my base station is, im guessing around claremont / kenilworth.

Anyway, just to report the issue.
Thanks

Busker, welcome to the problem we are all currently facing.

I know it sucks, but please, before you start screaming like a baby (like we all have at some point) just be a bit patient and let's see what Neotel is going to do, there is problems, Neotel is working on it.

My internet is FLYING right now - im getting intermittent connection drops, but its super fast. Check it out:

I don't want to jinx this, but since the weekend (I am in kyalmai) performance is really up

Down 1129 Kb/s
Up 585 Kb/s

Well done
