for what? Some of us have just given up complaining - i've been doing speedtests since last and for what. Nothing has bloody changed.
I've watched guys come here and say give Neotel a chance - they're trying and then couple of months later they also give up like me.
Right now, just waiting for the end of my contract.
 
What is also amazing is the Neotel rep appears here, deflects all concerns raised on network speed and does not have the decency to apologise for the shoddy performance over the past couple of weeks.

Na sorry.. Thats crap. Half the time I post here its on my phone. The other half I wait for up to 30 seconds for a page full of text to load.

If all I wanted was to be able to browse a forum or two I would just use dial up. Or better go back to the 192k adsl service I had 2 years ago.

I am paying a GRAND for this service, and its SLOWER than my 192k line was.

jeanres can you maybe arrange for your contacts at neotel to at least use a bit of lube as they but**** me.

Or when they checked their coverage before they signed up they had exceptional coverage and a year later the coverage map all of a sudden changed leaving them needing an external antenna for 'high speed' internet... :rolleyes:
 
I got some good speed test results this morning.

Neotel

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1247 kbps (155.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 85 kbps (10.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Speedtest = 1Mb/s

In Bedfordview. Lets see how long it lasts, or probably doesnt. Why do I have to fight everyday for stable internet that I pay R1000 a month for. Its so tiring and sad.
 
Yeah speeds are always great in the morning...can sometimes easily get over 240kB/s but then later in the day goes down to 50kB/s...basically when more people are using it, it gets worse :(

exactly, I remember that I could only get the Prime phone if the coverage was excellent but somehow the coverage slowly changes when they make adjustments on the towers.

Neotel stated at one point they would not be giving service to anyone who does not sit in an excellent coverage area. Besides and I know myself, neotel checked my coverage before they sold me a contract for service.

I myself have given up complaining. At some stage when I have the time I will be talking to a lawyer about a way forward.

I am in ( and always have been ) in an area shown as excellent indoor coverage. But in reality ( as confirmed by their techs ) I have 1 bar of coverage without an antennae. Even with an outdoor antennae during the day I am showing orange / red and at night a green signal. Their coverage maps are worthless.

The Neotel rep has not returned 1 of the messages left in the last 3 weeks and I have been trying to get hold of him on his direct number every 2 days. So Yes maybe the forum is quiet , but maybe I am just tired of the crap service. Managed to get hold of him today, but still no answers. Promised to phone me back by 12.

Oh yeah the last 2 days it has been better. I have gotten 1Mb/s at night with the external. During the day 20-50Kps. Before they changed my coverage I used to get 1.8MBps with no external antennae. Disconnections seem to be a bit better , but still getting them.

Well, look at the title of this thread. This is not about praising Neotel for their great service - we already do that by paying our bills on time! This is about "we've paid you now deliver the service as you promised!"

Update:

It’s been a while since my last post but thought this would be interesting for all those uncapped lite (good coverage users)

Im getting Neotel to install my antenna after my legal sent a breach of contract to them for not delivering the speeds promised on the contact.

Currently Im on the Uncapped Lite package, with a TRANSFER speed of about 6-16KBPS

Speedtest.net results (12/10/09, 12:51pm) :
Ping: 1411ms
Download: 0.07mbps
Upload: 0.04mbps

In an excellent coverage with 2 base stations (towers) within 1km from me.

I will report back tomorrow after the installation as to the difference made.

Wtf, is anyone in the sandton area having connection problems? I went from a RSSI os 74 to 95 over night.

Last night I had a DRC of 2.4mbps stable, this morning is between 0 and 156kbps DRC.

My PN keeps changing too. Last night it was 208 (and has been for quite a few months), this morning is fluctuating between 64 and 136.
