Neotel predicts dramatic price drops

I doubt that prices will actually come ... it will be more like getting more with the same price. So if a 1GB account cost you R 199 previously, your R 199 will now buy you 2 or 3 GB. These guys have invested heavily in telecoms infrastructure. There's now way they can afford to cut revenue, but they can offer you more at the same price in effect dropping the price (according to them).

My expectations are not high ...

True,that i think too.

:eek:Damn I better sell wahtever shares I have in the Telecoms.

:mad:Faaark they are not worth anything now.

Neotel is always imminent and government hands out 45% reductions on telecoms rates.... viva Zimfrika...

blah blah blah, talk is so very cheap Mr Neotel.

Please explain to me how your coverage site says our current location has no coverage yet when we brought a new modem here today to test it it had -83dBm signal which is 5dBm better than -88dBm which is the strongest level according to the user manual of the device?

Yet you refuse to sell us the Neotel device because your coverage site says there is no coverage here (even though there was coverage when we applied for the service in January and the coverage was then suddenly removed after my call was cut off).

According Pandey the excitement of a shifting telecoms landscape experienced by the local market in the past 12 months

damn I must have been out somewhere, I seemed to have missed the exitement and the shift.

It's people like him and politicians that cause global warming with all that hot air.

Yawn.. Less talk more action please. Tired of reading these silly articles when there's no action to back it up. The neoflex product is an absolute fail. In fact south africa is becoming the land of epic fails! First dstv launches an inferior functionless HDpvr decoder then neohell launches their worthless broadband service, hellkom's adsl service is slow, prices are still high.. Wat next??? God help this country cos no1 else can. We'll just have to keep dancing to the african national con-artists tune for the next 15yrs..

I am so gatvol of SA telecoms I dont bother with it anymore. If I put a 5c down for every article that was published on MyADSL since it began promising lower costs blah blah I would have had enough to probably build my own fiber ring!

The day broadband becomes cheap in this country will be the day Hell Freezes Over!

My Sig says it all

Seeing that Neotel claims that they have exclusivity on marketing SeaCom in South Africa, we should ask them the following questions

When will you offer bandwidth to the ISP's at the lower Prices you claim
Will that help the ISP's deliver lower prices to their customers.
Also publish the ISP's when you provide the Cheaper "bandwidth"

As Seacom has a countdown on their site to completion, Seacom Countdown can you also give us a countdown to lower prices on your site as well. I think this is called "putting your money where your mouth is" otherwise keep quiet

Me thinks MTN and VC (They have the towers which Neotel does not) will eventually provide wimax to all and sundry with Neotel as their bulk international bandwidth provider and Dark Fibre Africa as their local carrier.

Neotel will be a Fibre Provider to business Customers only

Constructive Positivism

Look guys instead of this continual whining song why no try something constructive

Here is an Idea.

Does anyone know exactly how many more 3G towers need to be built ?

Does anyone know just EXACTLY where these are to be placed ?

Does anyone know if these PRIME sites have all been secured ?

Does anyone know a bit about REAL-ESTATE ?

[ HINT: You are going to need a bit more than Google Earth -- BUT -- it may help -- look at what is there -- EXTRAPOLATE ]

I asked a similar question of a certain exhalted personage on this MBB. I never received a reply :(

THIS tells me I am on the right track -- SCREW Telecomms -- Lets talk PROPERTY

the INGENIOUS one

All this talk every day , all I want to no is by how much ? Give me a more or less figure. and Not %. For example , 30gb will cost R200. That will be nice for a start.

Just to add to your list, Telkom is the official sponsor of 2010, is telkom gonna lease capacity from them since they claim SAT3 cable is "close to capacity" which is the reason they use for high prices and restrictive caps?
