Durban has the same issues. I was getting 1.2-1.5mbps. Now 300-400kbps. RSSI has gone up and PN keeps changing quite often.

I threw my toys out the cot earlier. Apparently the techies are out to fix tower 320 now. DarkDenim and I can only but hope... If it ends up working I'll be sure to tell you guys

That would be awesome :D

Milnerton Coverage

Hi I'm thinking about getting Neotel and finding the lack of accurate locations on this "speed test" site quite frustrating.

I'm located in Milnerton, Tygerhof area close to Century City and the Air base.

Anybody in this area that have Neotel and can post speeds / coverage?

Is there other way than the coverage map to test speeds / coverage before signing with NeoTel?

I borrowed an Iburst modem from work and get 34kb/s inside my living room. So if not neotel then Iburst.

IT WORKED!!!!

RSSI has dropped down by 7 units. Now im getting 35kB/s (triple what was before). Tower 320 is still down though, but I suspect that they're fixing 300 first because its more "popular". Throw a hiffy fit. It worked for me.

DarkDenim, please post your RSSI, my one is now 81 from 88 for P/N 300. 320 is still down :/

RSSI down from 84 to 79 but connection is still painfully slow...

Download Speed: 161 kbps (20.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 78 kbps (9.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Hi Fanus1

I also live in the Tygerhof area(close to De Grendel high school), the coverage dropped from excellent(when I signed during March this year) to none in the last week, during this time period the download speeds where very slow and had many connection problems.

Below is some speed tests that i did on the 5th June. It has been like this since 1st of June. I have added the time of day as well.

The RSSI goes between 97-102

12:48
ping : 766 ms
download : 62kb
upload : 6kb

13:22
ping : 397ms
Download : 70kb
upload :11kb

15:36
ping : 503ms
download : 93kb
upload : 5kb

I would recommend not to sign up with Neotel

Are you on neo connect lite, prime or neo flex?

I was hoping the problems on this site will drop away when they started using seacom :(
I'm finding it hard to believe that they can't get up to advertised speeds and reliability when there is a "billing per usage" thread on here with downloads of 16GB, 40+GB stated.

I guess I'll be waiting a little longer but I'm not writing them off completely.

Bad today. :/

NeoConnect Prime Unlimited, Kenilworth, Cape Town. After having seen some other people's slow speeds, I almost feel bad about complaining. But 10 days ago I was getting download transfer rates of between 160kb/s and 210kb/s. I'm now lucky if I get 120kb/s, and it is mostly under 100kb/s. This whole experience is kind-of tedious. But still so much better than anything else on offer in SA that it would be stupid to dump them.

Here is the winner for today:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 56 kbps (7 KB/sec transfer rate)

Well, Gdiza, um, I'm quite jealous of your upload speed. I never get past 5kb/s transfer.

Neotel Prime, Westville North, Durban
