Neotel

Killadoob if you think 4meg ADSL is "broadband" then i dont know......i was thinking more like a TRUE 10meg pure fibre connection as "broadband"...this is only my personal oppinion

Also want to know regarding the Ethernet device. ;)

USB will not work for myself as I use Linux-based solutions ...

Gotta agree, would've signed up long ago if an Ethernet device was available

... unless you have a few rands in your back pocket to install your own fibre to your closest fibre terminal point.
Was this a joke or were you being serious? I live about 300m from Verizon, I'm sure there'll be a point by/near them :)

I AM NOT THE NEOTEL REP !!!
Ok guys I work for Neotel so I will give you some answers only if the questions are decent and only if I am capable of answering it, if someone attacks me in the tread I going to stop it.
Give us some time guys thers networks don’t come over night and things will also go much faster if power was available 24/7 everywhere. (Joke)
CDMA is our first step of reaching the customer after that it’s WIMAX and in a few years time “fiber to your home”
JHB and PTA is up and running on the Alpha phase with CPT and DBN to follow hopefully 1 July.

Any rollout plans for PE?

PE, nope not now but it is on top of the list for the next roll-out

Most of my issues with NeoTel have been asked already. Except, will there be an option to buy the device outright and have a month to month contract instead?

Stolla, thanks for actually being brave enough to face our onslaught of questions :)

Stolla, with your response regarding Bellville being covered, will that include Kuils River as well? Thanks dude

What about Cape Town CBD? Would it not make sense to do that before you start on the suburbs?

i think the most important question for neotel is when are you doing to bring in good cabled adsl/broadband

now this 2.4 that thats rated at 300 - 700 BS you offer now

why bring out something that never reaches 2.4

so your telling me my 4 meg line is not broadband?

how do you figure that one?

No its not :p There was some article that someone posted a few months ago - maybe more - when the US did a study of their bandwidth requirements and infrastructure and iirc 4mb was not described as "broadband".
But then again - what are most ppl with 4mb lines synching at again?

And yes - to Stolla - big ups for responding to the nagging Q's man - Cheers to that! :)

I'd prefer an option to finance the unit over 24-months (incl a 24-month swap-out guarantee) with a number of Pay-as-you-go options.

i would like to know about the neotel frequency ranges , and if we can buy antennas to increase the gain.

The problem in this stage is to get highsites to put our CDMA sites, this takes forever to get approval from the landlords.

There is some nice things comming and i think pay as you go is one of them.
Regarding kuilsriver coverage...i think your closest site will be kasselsvlei that is already live.

The exact freq of the eqiupment ....will get back to you but its around the 800mhz range
The phone will be useing a TNC male connector on the antenna side.

Coverage is PE have to wait for at least 6 months for now...i think

Many thanks for getting back to me/us dude. I'll eagerly wait until you're ready for my area (live and all that) and move away from the beast

Is a device upgrade only allowed every 24 months?

The two current lite and prime devices are the only available ones at the moment. Should you wish to upgrade from lite to prime you can do so at any time. Once other devices become available there will upgrade policies around that designed to ensure that its convient for the customer to do so
