Netflix and Hulu+: A PS3 Setup Guide

I would start working from the router outwards.

Step 1
. Restart router
. Connect PC to router (If internet connection works connect to Unotelly and log in)
. Unotelly might tell you that your IP needs to be updated. (Do that step)
. Now connect to Netflix from your PC. If it works continue to the other devices.

This all depends on how you setup your DNS. If it's done on the router you might need to reset it to the default DNS. Could be that your DNS on the router is now out dated (The one you entered from Unotelly whenever you did it). If the DNS was set on your PCdo the following: Go to Network - Sharing centre, change adaptor settings, right click your connection and select properties. Select IPv4 and then select properties. If the DNS was changed in there tick the one where it says optain automatically. In future just put the Unotelly DNS in here at this step as opposed to the router.

Once all that is working we can move on to step 2 :p

Hi Pitbull. Managed step 1 successfully (only on Win 7 laptop). Step 2 please?

Did you do the DNS setup on your PC or on the router?

*Sorry for the late response. I see you posted at 11PM last night :D

I did it on the PC

Which other devices do you need to set-up? I did the PS3 and the Ipad?

On the PS3, you go to network settings, select Setup connection manually. Leave all the fields open till you get to the DNS. Add the Unotelly Primary and secondary DNS continue and save. Once done, go to PSN and download Netflix. it will install it. Once installed just click on Netflix and log in. Save the log-in so you won't need to log in again. When you click on Netflix going forward it should just work.

Ipad. Opent Settings, tap on Wifi, on the connection you are using you will see a little blue i tap on it. Go to the DNS and add the Primary DNS for Unotelly. Once done just tap on the wifi field again on the left. Download Netflix via Applestore. You might get an error when you try to connect error 1006. If you do, go back to your settings on the Ipad, scroll down to where it says connection settings. Go to where it says reset connection settings and reset it. Do step one again to enter the DNS and it should work fine.

***I don't have the device infornt of me now so Might not have the steps 100% in order. I can update you when I get home around 18:00. or just ask while you're busy I will monitor the thread so you don't wait too long.

Thanks a lot Pitbull. Don't stress about the timing, it's not super urgent. I'll try the above tonight or over the weekend. I'll give you feedback. Thanks again!

Success on my girlfriend's PS3 (not mine yet, on which I'd reported the earlier issues - will still get around to that). Should I format my PS3 before attempting to fix? Remaining devices: 3 Android phones/tablets. Any thoughts or resources on the forum you can point me to?

I actually had an issue this morning before work when putting on the PS3 for the kids to watch Netflix. My IP needed refresh so it didn;t work on the PS3. Logged into Uno telly and updated my IP. When I went in to Netflix on the PS3 I noticed the system needed to log into PSN first. Maybe make sure you have 2 different PSN accounts? Don't think it will work with the same PSN account. I only noticed it this morning.

As for the Android device I have no idea. Not using one. People on here uses Android TV so the setup should be the same as with the Droid TV's?

Hi all

Mostly sorted now - both PS3's and laptop working beautifully on Unotelly, Netflix & Hulu. Thanks to all that assisted me. Have a great weekend!

Has anyone had issues with netflix on roku 3 recently?

i have a us and a uk account... us roku account for tv room and uk roku account for bedroom

after netflix did its update, i got to continuously reboot the roku in order to get my netflix to work for the uk account... normally all i do from time to time is update the ip with unotelly, then restart the app and it works... now after i update the ip, when i check network on netflix, everything is fine, but it still tells me that netflix hasnt come to that part of the world as yet, then after i reboot, its fine....

any ideas what could be causing this?

BTW, the us roku works fine, just changing netflix regions is abit a schlep now...

Howzit Slamz,

Sorry I don't have a Roku for now, so nothing I've experienced before.
Hopefully one of the other peeps subscribed to this forum can help.

I'm having a frustrating problem with netflix on my ps3

Content at 720p looks great, but it keeps jumping up to 1080 SuperHD. Not quite enough bandwidth for this so I get compression artifacts. How do I restrict it to max 720p?

Hi Sinbad,

Unfortunately there's no way that I know of to force it to 720p.
What size line do you have? If does jump to Super HD then I'm sure you have enough bandwidth available.
Have you tried maybe prioritizing your streaming using your DSL router? I know it's a long shot, but not really sure what else to suggest.

10 meg line, but it never seems to go above 5 when netflixoring.

I'm waiting for my mikrotik, when I get it I'll rate-limit the netflix to just below what it thinks it needs for 1080 ;)

I've also got a 10Mb with Webafrica. Who are you with, just out of interest?
As far as I know, I think it needs something like 5.25Mb/s for 720p :)

Crystal web.

When it's streaming 720p happily, line sits at 450KB/sec
