Netflix and Hulu+: A PS3 Setup Guide

When I try and log on this pops up

Netflix has encountered an error. Attempting to determine problem. To exit Netflix, press PS button on your controller

UPnP is enabled on the Router, not sure if this is the issue as it says not available on the PS3. Netflix worked the first day now its kaput.

I went into unotelly and refreshed it, I could then access Netflix but not the content, so it opened pages but showed no choices, from there it showed the error message. Weird or What?
 
My Netflix also died. Loads everything fine, but says it can't play the title on any content. Weird. Hulu is working fine
 
I see on the Unotelly website it asks for a setup for my Device (PS3) do you recommend I follow the instructions that are shown, I might just be Dumb or something
 
I think it's pretty much the same as for any device. If you can access the content it'd working fine. I think there is a problem with Netflix at this moment.
 
It might be but at this stage I cant access anything and keep getting the error message.
What exact setup must I do on unotelly under PS3? I see there are a bunch of options helping setting up different routers and am not exactly sure what to do, should it work without any unotelly setup on the website?
My apologies for asking so many questions, hopefully I can get it sorted.
 
Set the unotelly dns servers up on your ps3 as per the website instructions.
If that doesn't work, it's possible your router is overriding your ps3's dns requests, but unlikely. In that case set the unotelly servers up in your router.
 
I set everything up as per the first page and the excellent guide posted by Shreez and it worked momentarily.
If it is overriding the PS3's dns requests how do I set the unotelly servers on my router?
 
anyone else experiencing Netflix problems lately? Since I updated the app on my phone I have unable to cast to my chromecast - read also that they have added additional DNS looking within the app that gives extra errors..

Both Netflix and Hulu have been a bit on the brink lately. Well, on my WDTV, in any case.
I've had to exit, and try again, and eventually it works.

With the PS3, I never have any problems, unless when I need to update the IP address on UnoTelly.

With chromecast it basically stopped working for me. Anyone else having the same error?
 
I recently bought a Chromecast. Any idea how to get Hulu app? I search on store but it not found. Got Netflix via Amazon store. But search Hulu and other stuff comes up like the cw and CBS. Those can't cast also....

I'm looking for advise please?
I installed a Hulu Plus trial the other day. It is a 30 day trial if I recall correctly.
I also installed a Unotelly 30 day trial.

I did the setup on my PS4 and it worked first round.
Two days later it stopped working with the error message "Sorry Hulu Plus was unable to start. Please try again later. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I deleted everything on the US and SA account, including the save data.
Still does not work.

I tried installing on my PS3, but same message.
It does work on my pc.

Anyone have experience with this?

Edit: Got it working somehow.
I added the DNS addresses in my pfsense box, instead of the PS4. Not sure if that fixed it. Unfortunately I also played around in Unotelly and Hulu Plus, so not sure what the fix was. Hope it last this time around.

If your ADSL connection IP address changes then you bees to update unotelly. Easy way to solve this issue is to create a cron to do this automatically. There is a URL inside the unotelly settings that updates your IP on their servers when you open it without needing to login. Use that URL in the cron. Can probably set that up on pfsense box. Other option is to use dynamic address. And add that address into unotelly and they will ping the address for your IP.

I have no idea how to create a cron unfortunately.
I saw on the Unotelly site something about bookmarking an option to update IP address.

Just to make sure, you are referring to the external IP?
All my LAN IPs are statistic.

Yes. External ip .bookmark that link and click it when your Hulu doesn't work.or get a dynamic DNS account and fill the details into unotelly. Easiest solution I think.

There are some services that offer free dynamic DNS service. I using dlink service with my dlink router at the moment. Will be setting up a pfsense box myself and will then create a cron I think if dynamic address fails because I don't use dlink router anymore.

I will go and sit in a dark corner and wait for our 3rd loadsheding, starting at 22:00 and ending after midnight.
I will look at the dyndns and link.
