lol!
+1 BMW is just not there.
Why not get a Audi R8
Well fine if not that then have a look at this: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/audi/2010-audi-r4-ar16931.html
a Mx5.
Will suit you well![]()
I took the Volvo for a test drive on the weekend - loved it, but it lacked oomph in a big way. It's long on acceleration but without much grunt. The SLK55 is just out of my price-range - it would have to be the SLK350 if anything. See, then I might as well take up the hairdressing...![]()
The T5... no grunt? That's an awesome engine... you did push the right pedal?
'Cos it's a convertible it's pretty heavy (body stiffening), but still shouldn't be short of poke.
If you buy the C70, you'll realise why Volvo's catchphrase is "For Life". You better really like it, 'cos you won't be able to sell it.
/arf is pissed off because he missed out on buying his dream car at a bargain price... this one is sold: http://dialademo.co.za/vehicles/139-55alf06871
The T5 is a high pressure turbo and the lag shouldn't be so noticeable. That engine likes to be revved tho'.I'll admit, I was a tad disappointed. I had high hopes but the lag is very noticeable and the acceleration is more a gradual push than a punt...
Seems like a rip off... I'd shop around, after all it isn't a sports car, the theft risk is minimal (I mean, who steals a Volvo?) and you're over 25.I know I like it already. It's whether I'm keen to more than double my insurance premiums as well which is making me less and less fond of the Volvo - not sure why but the insurance costs seem a bit exorbitant: Over 25; no 'no claims' I admit, since I was taken out by a taxi recently; household cover included - estimate is around R4k per month. I could be paying off a small car for price as well...
It's a right brain/left brain thing. The left part tells me that an Alfa will be uncomfortable for anyone over five foot five inches tall, will break down at inopportune times, will bankrupt me with repair bills and will have an electrical system that's less reliable than Eskom... But my right brain doesn't care, the car is simply beautiful. You snooze you lose. But while it might look like the early 90s "carsonification" of Cindy Crawford, I question whether it has her longevity...
Saying that though there was a 2001 C70 for sale at a local dealer not so long ago for R70k, luckily my common sense got hold of me before I could take the 2.5lt turbo for a test drive![]()
S3 is out of the question. I will not buy some "suped up" hatchback. I'd sooner buy a BMW, and that's saying something.
JK8 - what makes Volvo 'crap'? Apart from the fact that it's not a VW?
Its not just a suped up hatch... go test drive one![]()
Volvos like lots of other cars have a stereo type about them, even that little hatch Volvo just screams old tannies car. They nicely built and as we all know very safe, thats all you can say about Volvo. I find it odd someone would even consider it... thats just me...
Er, that's exactly what it is. And no thanks - it doesn't appeal to me at all...
I think the same about nearly all the Volvos, apart from the C30 and the C70...
