New DSTV HD Decoder

How much more does installation cost (approx) for the old decoder compared to the new one..

Also, isn't the old decoder very glitchy?

AFAIK - About R300..... only difference is you need a 2>6 multi-switch for BIG HD-PVR and a 2>4 multiswitch for the baby HD-PVR

Re bugs - would not surprise me if the baby has gremlins of it's own!
 
Can someone please explain the use of the multiswitch? As I have absolutely no idea why it is needed.

It splits the feed from your dual-lnb(coming from the dish). This then plugs into the back of the decoder
 
I think we losing the plot here....
Let's concentrate on getting that new decoder first

I phoned Hi-fi Corp Woodmead they said it is the new Baby HD PVR on Sale ( watch one , record one) , but up till 4:30 today , they had not received any stock.

Interesting, I asked them earlier today and the guy said it's the normal pvr... But he didn't seem to have a clue
 
I would advise against getting information / advice from employees at Hi Fi Corporation…;)

Agree, they are useless!!! Makes me sick when I see them selling 5 years old HD Ready plasmas for rediculous prices to ignorant customers! Or Sinotec TVs... But where else can I get information on which decoder it is, if it is not standing around :-).

Important post.....I know we are all getting jittery, but we need to stay focus on the baby HD pvr....
 
It's 100% the current DADDY black HD-PVR in the photo in the specials pamphlet. Plus it says SAVE 1000
 
I went into Woodmead hi-fi Corp and they told me it's the new baby pvr watch1 and record 1 . They didn have stock at about 3 pm, called fourways at 4 and they said they had stock. Thou it does not make sense why they say save R1000 when this is the new cheaper model????

The old one was watch 1 and record 2 right?
WhAts the diff in specs , memory/processor etc?

Maybe someone can confirm tomorrow. I will try and find out as well, will take a drive to Hifi in Tokai/Cape Town tomorrow moring sometime. If it is the "Baby" one I will buy it and post some pics and info for everyone
