After months of seeing the streets of my neighbourhood dug up and filled in fibre cables we were eventually approached by someone at the gate. He was from this company called "Connekt" with a brochure, looking for signatures to generate interest for implementing fibre in the area. I've tried to research the company but found nothing much beside the website on the brochure (www.mconnekt.co.za) and a few social media pages. I worry that the reasonable prices and lack of reviews/information mean that it may be a fraudulent business. Has anyone had any experience with them and if so could you please share your experience?

Sign up. Why not? It shouldn't cost you a cent until the actual internet goes live. I doubt that scammers would go through all the trouble to lift paving and lay down infrastructure. So unless they want payment upfront, it should be relatively safe.

Hi. Thanks for the response. You make a good point although I forgot to mention something. To order a package they need you to fill in information for a debit order straight out the gate. They also require a minimum of a 3 month contract before you are able to pay on a month to month basis. Another point is that I don't think they were the ones who laid down the infrastructure. Like telkom and their phone lines perhaps they are one of the ISPs paying another for the use of it.

Find out who laid down the cables and ask them if mconnekt has a contract to use their fibre infrastructure.

Would be easy to do, just check out all fibre provider's websites and see who is covered at your address.
