New FNB prices for smart devices

Seems FNB are becoming too demanding in my opinion, don't dig the option where you need to provide FNB with proof you closed your other account.

So people that spend 10k on a credit card (and have a Platinum account) need to do the same as the cheapest option to qualify for R100 monthly discount at the same price?

They're like The Empire! All your moneyz are ours - and then you get a toy.

I still prefer the 2nd hand market.

Yeah but if you have always been a FNB client and use them as your main bank....then you already qualify for all those criteria or requirements. That at least is the case for me, I don't even have to try to meet these requirements, I already do because I use FNB as my main bank.

And I think that is what they are trying to do with this, they want their clients to use them as their main bank, so these requirements are just enforcing that if you want to try and make use of the perks, that are intended for their clients using them as their main bank.

Anyways, I have been with FNB since my student days, and since then I can say that I have rarely if ever had problems with them, sure there are the odd technical glitches, but they are far less than the crap I got from ABSA prior to moving to FNB.

Agreed. If FNB is your main bank these are hardly "loops" you have to jump through. I'm sure most of the complainers meet these requirements at their banks.

So complicated.....
Sounds like the people who designed discovery healths medical scheme and vitaly have found their way over to FNB.

What ever happened to simple banking...
Oh now I remember...that's Capitec

Is the R3k discount really worth it for the lowest spec ipad?
Can't even take it on holiday unless u have a 3G router!!!!

If I have a platinum cheque account , can I get a gold credit card?

It's for all the products on the list, not only the ipad

i was on of the first people to get the first iPad discounts last year..
within 3 months i opted to fully pay for the pad and not have any more monthly deductions.

a few months ago when the new ipad was available i applied again for a new one but was told that i dont qualify anymore.

i have no idea why as i'm in a better financial situation now than when i applied the first time.
I look into the requirements for the current R50 / R100 discounts and i meet all criteria but i'm not able to apply..

SUX!!:(

This is not at all confusing, and is super simple to get the R50 discount. You just use your credit card instead of your cheque card, and transfer the spend at the end of the month. It is many days interest free, so that is not a problem. You also earn more ebucks and fuel rewards using credit card

No way

It smells desperate. I am sorry but the we are so transparent and open and we have your interest at heart mantra from FNB is a lie. Try to invest and find the interest rate for that investment. "What will it cost" links will take you to a matrix of costs that will frustrate the shot out of you. They have found a way to appeal to users by offering some good free stuff, and then bending you over the table, the free stuff just makes it better than going somewhere else.
I cancelled my credit card and soon afterward was told I will no longer be able to finance off my bond to the extent that I was previously able to. mmmm coincidence.

Doesn't cancelling credit lines show up in your credit report? I wish they had some decent IBM notebooks in their list.
